I'm at a loss right now, I'm having issues coming up with new squads to make and am seeking advice on how you'd come up with one.

What do you mean? Is there a specific faction, a specific piece, or what?

No specific faction or piece.

Well, if it's just playing for fun, I'd suggest picking a piece and just building around that.
Certain squads have multiple kinds of squads in them, as well. Mandalorians, for example, can almost always have a squad in them, as long as you include a Mandalore. Vong, now in days, have a ton of options. And Rebels are not played very often, leaving tons of untapped potential.
Does that help? If not, I can go into more detail.

I think these recent pieces have potential for interesting squads that haven't yet been fully explored in the squad builder:
Watto - giving Savage to all sorts of pieces Marn Heiroglyph + Jarael Mezhan Kwaad - fringe shooter in Vong is pretty cool Mandalore the Lesser - Sith/Mando mixing

I usually go long periods without building anything then.... Whammo! I'll crank out a number of them based on what faction or daydream at work I'm in.
IMO...
The best thing is to review the sets and see if a piece strikes your fancy and then have at it. Avoid the trap that all builds have to be tier 1 or 1.5; I feel that limits the absurdity factor, which often leads to serendipitious creations.

Just couldn't think of how to say it...
