I'm recently new to this forum, and I'm not exactly sure what the V-set is, or how you guys go about playing it. I've taken a look at the miniatures created through one of the links, but I'm still unsure of how they're applied.

Here's the blurb for it on Gamers: "Destiny of the Force is the first virtual set created by SWMGamers! While there are no more physical sets of cards available to get, you can still download the card set for free. Also check out the Glossary Insert for further definition of the new Special Abilities and Force Powers created with this set. And don't forget the Set List which features what pieces were created for this set as well as the Recommended Miniatures that can be used to represent each DotF piece. Many have chosen to try their hand at creating customized miniatures to represent the pieces for DotF, if you go this route check out the forums for new ideas as well as sharing your own creations! Basically, after WotC died out the community took the initiative to create new stats. Thus, the V-Sets were created. Only 1 set has been released so far, Destiny of the Force. They were thoroughly playtested (even more than WotC did) and were initially released as physical cards that you could receive but we should be about out of those. You can download all the cards in a PDF in one of the links I posted above. While we don't have actual figures to portray these minis, we did issue what are called "Recommended Minis" that you can use to portray the figure. Really, while playing these in normal games, it comes down to just letting your opponent know "this piece represents this mini". Some people have begun doing customizations to make unique figures for the set so they can easily distinguish them from the normal pieces. The pieces are useable and legal in all formats, especially in tournaments and such. I know some groups of players are not happy with the V-Sets and have chosen to consider them "not legal" for play in their groups and while it is mystifying, it is their decision.

Thanks a lot, Jedispyder. I just assumed there was an online community that used them to play in virtual tournaments, using software of some kind.

We play minis online also, as players are so spread out. The software or platform we use is called Vassal. If you want to get in extra games you should check it out, the site is called Vassal.

I'm not sure if there is a "how to use Vassal" here on BlooMilk, but I do know there a picture guide at SWMGamers (www.swmgamers.com/forums).

I'm not sure if it is too late to request a set of properly pronted cards of the V-Sets coming out this summer, but it is definitely worth doing. They are fantastic quality, even better than the WOTC cards.
