I was wondering since it has been coming up in several games lately is when you do an AOE attack against an enemy you are adjacent to or an ally is adjacent to. Do you suffer the damage because you are a "character" adjacent to the target of the attack.
For Example - Junk Golem - Splash 10 (If this character's attack hits, all characters adjacent to the target take 10 damage; save 11. If the attack misses, the target and all adjacent characters take 10 damage; save 11.)
Kinda silly to make junk golem a melee only when you can be injured by your own attacks right?
Am I missing something? It would work the same with sith lightning or grenades or any other AOE attack, right?
Thanks

If an attacking character has splash and he is adjacent to the target, he is also effected by splash. So, when the junk golem attacks he also has to save for splash damage. Same with grenades and other AOE special abilities.

to clarify with Lightning, it depends on what version. 2 or 3 you pick a target and 2 adjacent characters. IF there is less than 2 enemies adjacent and your character or any of your allies are adjacent you must choose one of them to take the damage also. With Every Other AOE (Splash, Grenades, Missiles, Flamethrower, Lightsaber throw 3 and 5, Force Push, FOrce Repulse, unleash the Force, and self destruct ) IT affects every adjacent character. IT doesn't matter weather or not it is an ally or the acting character it still effects them.

AOE = Area of Effect
For anyone else who didn't know the term, don't fret. It's not a SWM term after all. It's borrowed from other games (e.g. World of Warcraft).

My friend and I had the same problem, and it took some time to work it out but I guess we did it wrong...we couldent figure out why Vaders apprentice would lightning some one else, and him self....so we dont make it effect the character using the ability, just adj. enemys/allies/ so I guess its a house rule.

Best reason yet!!! That is a legitimate concern. Maybe that's why there were so few Wookiee jedi in the movies.
