There is a fun thread over on that other site that Daniel S started about GenCon 2011 predictions.
I'm surprised the topic hasn't come up here, so I'll go ahead and initiate it.
What squads are going to be played the most, and which are going to do the best? What team is going to be the 2011 Team Tournament champions? Who's going to come out on top of the Jedi Challenge or the Sith Trials? Who's going to be our 2011 TILE WARS World Champion? And how's the top 8 going to look on Sunday, and who's going to win it all (if you're brave enough to venture a guess as to that!)?

Alright - I'll kick this off.
Jedi Challenge winner: As always, someone from the midwest
Sith Trials winner: Total crapshoot. Since Epic Duos is randomly assigned it's a large part luck.
Team Tournament winner: It would be Deri, Jake and I, but we're probably not playing. Gotta give others a shot. ;)
Meta: Not as many Lancers as people seem to think (but still a handful). I am predicting more Solo Charge or slight tweaks of that squad. Republic will make a surge vs what we saw at regionals, and there will be a scatter of imps and ever-present rebels. There will be a couple great players playing OR, but I think it will miss the top 8. Same with Vong and Mandos, though in even fewer numbers. I'd be SHOCKED to see Sith make the top 8.
Top 8 Factions: 2 NR, 2 Seps, 2 Republic, 1 Imp, 1 Rebel. #9-16 will have 2-3 OR, 1 Vong, 1 Mando, and the rest from the top factions.
Top 8 players by Region: 3 from Chicago, 1 from MI, 1 from Canada, 1 wildcard . . . and I guess 2 from the south
Oh - and I should say who my pick is for The TILE WARS world championship - Brad P aka The_Celestial_Warrior. I love how much thought and effort he puts into his squads. He really comes up with creative mayhem.
As far as specific names for the top 8, well . . .
I think 6 of 8 will be from this list:
Top 8 front runners (in no particular order) Bill R Deri M Matt P Trever P Eric F Jason K Eric L Lou V Aaron B Graham B David W Greg S Daniel S Matt H
1 Additional will come from this list:
Dark Horses (in no particular order) Jake K Tony M Mike G Scott S Jason A Ben J Jim M Matt S Ricky H Chris P Jonny B Luke C Ian G James W Brandon P Jason T Ray B
and 1 will come from out of the blue, not on either of these lists.

Good call on posting this over here, I always forget to cross-post stuff....
Anyway, here were my predictions:
Team Tournament winner: Atlanta's A team, of course!
Jedi Challenge winner: I'm thinking David Weeks has a good shot at it, if he's going to play in all 3 legs.
Sith Trials winner: I'll guess Brad
Meta: NR, Seps, and Republic will make up at least 60% of the squads played, and 4 or 5 of the top 8. Solo Charge, single Lancer, and Skybuck are going to be the biggest things around and squads to beat, with some small variations to those squads.
Top 8: Deri, Graham, Trevor, Tim (yes, I think he'll make it this year), Aaron, a Michigan player, another Atlanta player (either me, David, or Greg), and one wild card.
World Champion: If the Atlanta players don't have to play each other in the first round of playoffs, I think there's a pretty good chance one of us could make it. Although honestly I think predicting the champion is way too much of a crap shoot; anybody that can get to the top 8 can potentially finish out. Depends on seeds and matchups and such.
TILE WARS winner: I think Graham has a good shot, he loves TILE WARS and usually has some pretty clever squad ideas for it. I've also heard that Brad is good at it, but I've never seen him play. So I'd say a toss up between those two.

Hello? . . . (chirp, chirp) . . . Is this thing on? . . . (chirp, chirp)
Wow, 30 posts on the Gamers thread, and only 2 repeat posts from that thread on here, with no original content.

I'm game.
Atlanta will have someone in the top 4 of each event we play in.
I will at one point be told to shut-up by every judge over the events I play in.
Daniel will get drunk and start doing complex math equations and come up with some crazy squad type that will work and he'll win with that.
I will play citedels with deri and be yelled at for not killing the merchant.

Well, I don't live in the US so my opinions are probably not worth much, but I think the Gencon champ will be either:
Weeks Billiv15 Echo TINT TimmerB
or Fingersandteeth

Or get yelled at by Graham for killing the King. Everyone knows you kill either the Architect or the Navigator early game.

Alright here's my top 8 because I've been keeping as accurate as possible regional results in an excel spreadsheet. And since I went to comic-con, I dont have the money for gen con so this is the only way to get pumped up about the championship and yet not be attending.
Top 8 in no particular order
Daniel S.
-Defending Champion-
Best Finish - 1st in Maryland Regional Worst Finish - 6th in Kentucky Regional
Tim B.
Best Finish - 1st in Indiana Regional 1st in Illinios Regional 1st in Wisconsin Regional
Worst Finish - 15th in the '10 Championship
Jason K.
Best Finish - 1st in Michigan Regional 1st in K-Town Championship 8th in GenCon Championship
Worst Finish - 4th in Wisconsin Regional
Graham B.
Best Finish - 1st in Georgia Regional 1st in Tennessee Regional 1st in Kentucky Regional 7th in GenCon Championship
Worst Finish - 17th in North Carolina Regional
Ben J.
Best Finish - 1st in Missouri Regional 4th in Illinois Regional
Worst Finish - 16th in GenCon Championship
Bill R.
Top 8 in GenCon championship every time competed
Best Finish - 3rd in K-Town Championship 4th in Capital City Championship
Worst FInish - 9th in Illinois Regional
Lou V.
Best Finish - 2nd in Capital City Championship 3rd in Illinios Regional
Worst Finish - 10th in K-Town Championship 19th in GenCon Championship
Trevor P.
Best Finish - 2nd in Ontario Regional 5th in GenCon Championship
Worst Finish - None that I could find
Now there will probably be spoilers to this prediction. I don't think many predicted Brandon P. making it all the way to the Final. So besides a couple rogues, a few dark horses could be Aaron (lobo), Weeks, Matt P., Deri (if he plays), or even spryguy.
