The epics are legal in normal play, right? I know it's a dumb question, and the answer is blatantly obvious. I just wanted to doublecheck that they're allowed at all point levels (that they'll fit into anyway) such as 150 pt. games rather than, say, only in higher point games of maybe 200 pt.s or more. I only ask because that was the case with Epic minis in D&D Miniatures that they were only legal in higher pt. matches (500 pts.) even if they could have fit into a smaller one.

No, they're not legal in normal play. They're only legal in the Epic Duos format, or in fun, non-tournament games of course.

Demosthenes is correct. They were designed with Epic DD and Mass Battle games in mind and with the knowledge that they will not be legal in tournament games. Obviously your gaming group would work in House Rules that allow them to be played in 200 point games...

In terms of what SWMGamer's Floor rules are, for Regionals, GenCon and other larger tournaments, the EPICs will not be legal.. but at your LGS, or at home, or with your friends, do what you want and let us know what happens!

We already have a format in mind (although I won't be running it until sometime in October up in Wisconsin for testing). Here's what the preliminary rules look like. It's an adaptation of Boris "Epic Format" from a couple of years ago.
500pts 16 Max Activations 1 Epic character 2 Commanders (in addition to the Epic) Standard or Open Map list Gambit = 10pts 1 hour time limit
