lightsaber throw counts as a melee attack, correct?

No, it counts as a non-melee attack. So you can use Evade and Lightsaber Deflect against it, but not Lightsaber Block. From the glossary: Instead of making its normal attack or attacks, a character using this Force power can make one attack against an enemy within 6 squares, ignoring the Melee Attack restriction. This counts as a nonmelee attack for purposes of effects such as Lightsaber Deflect and Molecular Shielding. http://www.bloomilk.com/ForcePower?Id=8

No. It is considered a non-melee attack. This is covered in it's glossary definition.
