I think this might be a good direct damage squad for the upcoming GOWK change. Thoughts?

--Almost Not Fair--
50 Darth Vader, Unleashed
33 Emperor Palpatine on Throne
11 Admiral Ozzel
6 Ugnaught Demolitionist x2
(100pts. 5 activations)

Why only 100pts? All the major tourneys will be 150 squads and that is where you'll have to deal with GOWK. Do you have a 150 variation?

The 150 is a squad called Viable.

--Viable--
50 Darth Vader, Unleashed
33 Emperor Palpatine on Throne
28 Dash Rendar, Renegade Smuggler
11 Admiral Ozzel
10 Jagged Fel
5 Imperial Dignitary
4 Gran Raider
9 Ugnaught Demolitionist x3
(150pts. 10 activations)

Not bad at all even though two people have rated you a one and did not leave any comments. Childish people...

Was it not said that to gain Black Sun from Xizor it had to say Black Sun in the abilities? I get confused on that aspect.

BTW I didn't rate it as I still do not consider myself qualified as an expert Blushing

Vigos and Abyssians are now (via errata) affected by the new Xizor's CE because they have the name but are not counted as having the Black Sun special ability.

The new errata states that any character with Black Sun in it's name gains Xizor's CE - but they DON'T inherit the Black Sun ability (unless it is printed on the card)

Oh awesome. I never understood why they didn't get it to begin with which was why I was always confused about it.

Originally, Xizor's CE was ambiguous in wording and Nickname, the netrep, erred on the side of caution in the ruling. So, it wasn't that they never got it to begin with, it's that the rules policy is to make the conservative judgement if anything is in question.

However, I suggest we discuss the squad at hand. Currently neither the 100 or the 150 currently have Black Sun units nor Xizor involved so it might be helpful to the squad creator if we keep it narrowed to his squad. :)

I like both of these squads. Dash is a nice addition to the 150 squad.

I like the squad. Dash makes it hard to sub in Lando, DS. If you are thinking of using the LS throw, you might want to put in an ASP so that he can toss it and get moved out of the way afterwards. Just a suggestion.

we tested this exact squad and one of the normal problems it ran into was nobles sitting on palps making his lightening useless.

So making a way to get LOS on any nobles you face will be priority.

I don't think Ozzel is really necessary for the 100 point version. Not really sure what to put in there instead though. Probably Imperial Dignitaries or Raxus Prime Troopers.

For the 150 point version, there's several different options floating around. I like the idea of the Dash/Jag combo, as several other builds I've seen only have Vader for real damage potential. I'd probably go with 3 more Ugnaughts though instead of the Gran/Dignitary. Even 10 activations with Ozzel will be too few if you run up against a San or Dodonna squad.

This is probably one of the most well-rounded GOWK counters I've seen so far though. Will be interesting to see if it can truly hold up. I'd be slightly concerned about Vader being left out in the open after a LT5 or FP4, and then getting pummeled by opposing shooters.

Laugh It happens as there was a Black Sun squad, at the time, below this one.

We return this discussion back to conversation already in progress.
