i was wondering if someone could help me out with prices. im selling off a friends collection at a local store on consignment and im wondering what a fair price would be for each set would be: these are my guesses pleas tell me if im high or low.
each set contains 1xVR, 1xR, 2xUC, 4xC
Rebel Storm = $200
Clone Strike = $350
Revenge of the Sith = $200
Universe = $275
Champions of the Force = $375
Bounty Hunters = $325
Alliance and Empire = $225
Force Unleashed = $300
Legacy of the Force = $250
Knights of the Old Republic = $225 (missing, squint, juhanni, obi padawan)
Clone Wars = $175
in canadian dollars:)
any help would be appreciated.

well if my marketing skills have taught me anything, its never to ask exactly what you want, you always ask higher than you want then, after negotiating you might acctually get what you want.

i was looking for advice like, universe isnt worth more than the other huge sets, or rebel storm should cost more that legacy of the force. or something like that. i know people will think im overpriced in a general sense, but i was hoping for more help about the relation of cost between sets.

That's hard to peg down exactly as a changing meta alters the costs a bit, but if I had to guess I'd go from least to most valuable: Clone Wars Jedi Academy Dark Times Masters of the Force Revenge of the Sith Imperial Entanglements Galaxy at War Rebel Storm Alliance & Empire Universe Force Unleashed Champions of the Force Clone Strike Legacy of the Force Knights of the Old Republic Bounty Hunters I put BH as the most valuable set as it contains 2 of the priciest minis in the game (Boba, BH and Jango, BH) and several other high priced VRs (Mandalore, Krayt Dragon, Skiff and to a lesser extent Vader and Han). The pricing of the UCs and Cs in the set are nothing to be sneezed at either, particularly the Mandos and the huges; that's also why I'd rank it higher than Legacy and KOTOR, as while both of those sets have some good priced rares, their commons and uncommons tend to be near-worthless.

The prices seem reasonable to me. It's hard to say precisely what a complete set is worth because they trade less frequently than individual pieces, but $200 - $300 compares pretty favorably to the price of a couple cases or buying the pieces individually and matches the lower end of asking prices for sets on Ebay. I think we can quibble about $50 either way and rearrange the rankings a little, but the prices you list seem the right ballpark to me.
I've had some experience selling Magic the Gathering cards to local game stores and typically they'll offer about half of what they think they could sell them for. J&J cards seems to have a well set up web store which helps, they're much more likely to sell online than to a walk-in from town.
If they give you half of the $2,800 you've listed and the figures sit on the shelf for a year or two before they sell, that's still a good return. How big an operation is J&J? How tight are they for capital? If they've got $1,400 sitting around I can see them doing it, if they're struggling to make rent and pay their staff then they can't afford to have $1,400 sitting around doing nothing for a year or two.
A fair price is whatever the parties agree to. Don't ask us, go pitch it to J&J. What they'll go for is more to do with how healthy their bottom line is than anything else.

What has changed that you are going to take any advice offered now? well i wouldnt say i havent taken any advice, but for one thing, these were not my sets, i basically got them handed to me in garbage bags cause the guy wanted to keep his tool boxes. also i am self employed, father of three, so spare time comes at a premuim. it has taken me since july just to get things in order to even be ready for sale. and also im not under pressure to unload these either, so i dont want to take a huge loss to get rid of them. @other posters, thanks for the info ill put it to good use. J&Js has done consignment for me before so next time im in the area ill run it past them.

Selling to an on-line store is the next best (figure 40-50% EBAY value, but you save 13% on overall costs and you only have to ship once). It really is a shame you are shipping from Canada. That alone makes the shipping cost more than the figure in some cases. Good luck. Keep us informed on what sells and for how much. I'm sure there are other interested in doing the same thing.

I wouldn't go by MM prices. Their stuff is incredibly expensive in most cases.

It'd be interesting to see how differently the sets rank in price when you look at how much they're selling for vs. what they're buying them for.

Their stuff is incredibly expensive in most cases. i sure in some cases they are a little more expensive, but overall their prices are fair, and most of the time they were the only website that had all the figures i needed when completing my personal sets. i have bought almost all of my online purchases from miniaturemarket and im very satisfied with what i got.
