Does the character that Exar is "haunting" always have to be within 4 squares to receive the force renewal and sith rage benefits?

i.e. could the character activate, trigger force renewal, and then move away (keeping the force point(? If so, can that character choose to use sith rage while within 4 squares and then move away to attack?

You must be within 4 in order to use the abilities. Force points just don't disapear if you lose Renewal.

However, Sith Rage can only be used just before you attack, not whenever on your turn. This is covered in the FAQ.
