I want to first say that I like the idea of Epics in the game. BUT we need to slow down abit with the 500pt format. Why 500, it just seems to be to many figs to control andit seems that you do not even get to use all of them or thier abilities. It has taken squads and figures that are borderline broken or very powerful and just made them over the top powerful (Bastil and Master Tactitian squads). I think there are to many acts. I would like to know the average amount of rounds in a game. You should be able to get at least 5, that seems to be the average in 200 pt format. We played only 3 rounds but we were taking our time. 3 rounds of play is NO FUN. And do not tell me to play faster. Why not 350 or 400. (would that really matter). I know there is alot of combs, but you do not need 4 high level Jedi running around with 12 filler pieces. does it really make the game better or more interesting. If anything limit CE to 3 and try and bring the acts down, 4 round min even if the 1:15 time limit is up. And gambit scoring 0f 25pts with a character of 25 pts or higher. Please talk me into why this format is the way of the future and lets make it work with EPICS without getting carried away.

Um, shoompa.
Don't know what else to say. You are asking us to defend a fun format that you think should be a competitive one. 5 rounds in 200pts is not fast enough. As for act limits, we believe 16 is a good amount for 500pts. And I will tell you to play faster. It is restricted to 3 commanders. Not sure how many you were playing, but our format is max 3/4 depending on if you count the Epic figure or not. 3 rounds for 16 acts in an hour and 15 minutes???? That means you and your opponent took 46 seconds per activation. That's a little ridiculous if you ask me. I would have been bored out of my mind playing a game at that pace personally. Remember, the game is meant to have fun.
As I said, shoompa. Please try to have more fun later. Nothing else to say about it.

Yeah, I haven't seen any mention of this being the "way of the future". I think it's been pretty clear that this format is strictly for fun. And frankly, I think it's a fantastic way to change things up.
The thing people need to remember (and it goes for the entirety of the v-sets, Epic's included) is that you are free to play whatever you want at the local level. You can use the v-sets or choose not to use the v-sets. You can play whatever rules and point levels that are going to work for you. Whatever you do, just have fun with it.
The concept of a 400-500 point skirmish w/ limited activations and CE's isn't something new. The playgroup I participate in has played them prior to the release of the Epic's. I think it just became obvious to a lot of people that Epic's would fit really well into a format like this based upon their past experience.
And again, no one is forcing you to play a 500 point Epic format. If you don't enjoy it then pick a format you do enjoy.

I'm a firm believer of, if you don't like something... then don't do it. I mean, I don't know what shoompa is... i thought it was huttese... then Yiddish...
Any how, I used to hate 200pt games, and only started playing them because it was gradually harder to find people interested in the original intended 100pt game. However, it has grown on me. My suggestion is give it a few tries using all the rules Billiv has provided, you might find out that its more fun than you'd originally thought. and if not, then there are a million different formats you can enjoy. If there aren't, heck, invent your own.

I played in an Epic format tournament last weekend and went 3-0, completing all 3 games within the 90 minute time limit. I think they were all done within an hour actually, and I was never the last one playing.
Also, I have no idea what format you're playing. No commander limit and no activation limit at 500 points? Nobody plays that. It's certainly not the "way of the future". Even the 3 CE, 16 act limit isn't the "way of the future". It's a fun format to be played alongside the competitive format (which is still 200 points), not supplant it. It's like Tile Wars, or Dynamic Duos.
Also, as everyone else has mentioned, if you really don't like it.... don't play it.

Eh, the one time me and a buddy took the game out for a spin at 500 points, we had a blast. He had bounty hunters and I had about 60 Younglings - and it was a riot.
