The conversation about the Defiler in the general forum got me thinking about how Proximity Mines works. I remember a conversation about this ability from the time it was being designed and seem to recall someone saying that if the character who places the mines on an enemy is defeated before the "mined" character activates that they are no longer "mined" and take no damage. Is that correct?

No. Similar to Force Corruption, the status of being mined is not dependenant on the "mining" character.

That was how it WOULD have worked had the community preferred Remote Mines over Proximity Mines. We made a thread discussing the differences between the two, and there was a little more support for Proximity Mines, so we went with that.

The difference was that Remote Mines "detonated" when the character with Mines activated again. Proximity Mines detonates when the mined character activates next.
