Using Weeks' list of tier one and two squad bases as a starting point, what restricted maps do you think are best for each of the following squads? I'm editing this original thread, as people post with ideas, and it's fine to suggest other major squad types too!
Old Republic Beef with shooter backup: Theed
Zannah Squads: Asteroid Base
GOWK + dudes
Skybuck Variants: Smuggler's Base or Jedi Temple
Republic death shot: Jedi Temple
Lancer Variants: Grand Plaza
Rebel Cannon: Theed
Thrawn squads: Smuggler's Base
Winter Defense
Ganner + Mara + Disrupter: Jabba's Palace
Vong Melee: Bothan Spynet, Asteroid Base

Thrawn + squads, seem to do well on Smuggler's Base. Grand Plaza for the Lancers is the way to go. I like Jedi Temple for the Republic DDS.

I checked over last year's GenCon top 8, and this is what they ran:
Skybuck: David - on Smuggler's Base Bill - on Jedi Temple Matt S - on Smuggler's Base
Ganner/Mara: Matt P - on Jabba's Palace (I ended up playing a Ganner/Mara squad on Jabba's Palace the other night - it's good, as it's easy to keep Mara safe until you lob her into the opponent's gambit area).
Lancer: Jason K - on Grand Plaza
Bastila squad (no shooter): Ian G - on Theed
Han Cannon: Ricky - on Theed

Map choice is kind of a big deal. Although personal prefferance is still the most important thing. I chose Smugglers Base because i only had one override and I knew I could get to anything I needed to with Yobuck in round 2, and sometimes in round 1.
Ian is the guy to ask about Map. He had every LOS and placement figured out for his squad to move around.

Oh I agree, map choice is a huge deal. While I run Yuuzhan Vong in all competitive matches, I've found that Bothan Spynet to be my go to choice. And while never tier 1, I've had great success against tier 1 squads with that map.

Asteroid Base is very good for the Vong or other melee based squads, like a Zannah/Huntress team-up

On Sith Holonetwork News tonight, Urbanjedi mentioned Ravaged Base is his favorite map for Lancer, but only when his opponent wins map roll and he gets to set up on the inside.
