For Vset pieces, I know that if a card has a lightsaber ability the character is considered to have a lightsaber but are we to assume that if the recommended mini has a lightsaber that the character is intended to have a lightsaber? I assume this to be the case since Darth Maladi's RM has a lightsaber, but nothing on the card but on Vergere's mini the lightsaber was removed. Thus Vergere has no lightsaber.

It's detailed in the 2012 SWGPA Floor Rules: • For the purpose of counting as having a lightsaber refer to the stat card. If the card has the Lightsaber Special Ability, a Force Power with the word “lightsaber” or the card image itself depicts a lightsaber then the figure is considered to have a lightsaber. In the case of a minature (including Recommended miniature) having a lightsaber but not meeting the above criteria then it is not counted as having a lightsaber.

Thanks, I do remember reading that when the update came out. I guess I just forgot. Still.....it seems like a strange rule considering how many pieces end up technically not having a lightsaber then.

The designers always keep in mind while creating a piece as to whether it should or should not count as having a lightsaber. The easiest solution most of the time is to give it Lightsaber Block/Deflect/Defense. The difficult part comes in using a figure with a lightsaber that shouldn't have a lightsaber which forces us to alter the image to remove it.
