So I came into a recent financial snag (college loans) and I have to part with my SWM collection along with a bunch of my other stuff Crying

Would it just be best to list my whole collection on eBay to sell? I'd rather not split them up by factions or sets...I would rather it be bought by someone who appreciates Star Wars and the Star Wars miniatures tabletop game. I pretty much have about 95% (according to my bloomilk list) of the all SWMs released up to and including the last WotC set, Masters of the Force.

What do you guys suggest? Unsure

**edit and update**

I started listing my collection on eBay:

eBay probably offers the best protection for both buyer and seller. I imagine you won't get nearly as much for the whole lot as if you sold it piece meal, but it should take much less time as well.

I would also suggest that you post a link to the auction site once listed on this and other SWM type sites. You should list as many of the chase VR pieces as you can as well.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

P.S. I wish I had the cash to offer you.

With a collection that large, you probably want to talk to a re-seller like Miniature Market or Cool Stuff, Inc. If you auction it yourself as one big lot, you may not even won't get what you'd get from a re-seller, and it would probably be more work. There just aren't that many people who have the cash and the interest in that much at once. If you want to sell it yourself, you really need to break it down into lots that are no bigger than $50-$100 each to get a real bidding war. That would be a lot more work for you, but would get you a better return. At the very least, check out the latest "buy" prices from the re-sellers and the resent "sold" prices on ebay.

I can tell you that a complete set of everything including AT-AT and a "ton" of promos recently sold on ebay for $2500. And I see individual complete sets sell for $100 - $150 depending on the set.

My advice would be to break it up by set and hope for the best and also be prepared to sell for less than you want to get. This gets people in the range where they can afford stuff. The problem with many of the websites is that they aren't buying everything right now only some of the pieces they can easily move themselves.

Hope that is helpful.

I concur with this. Selling to the various sites will get you a good amount of cash without too much effort on your part.

Last year, I liquidated a good chunk of my collection down (Duplicates of R/VRs and Cs/UCs I had more than I'd realistically need, about 3-400 minis total). I sold to Auggies and Strike Zone and between the two, I got about $600 for my extras (Would have been $800 if I knew where my SB cards were at the time).

For best results, get your collection organized and inventoried, then open up the buy lists for the major players (Cool Stuff Inc., Miniature Market, Troll & Toad, Strikezone, & Auggies) and go through them, making notes of where each of your minis would get the best price. As most stores are only looking for so many of a character, you will likely have to sell to more than one store to get rid of everything.

I picked Strikezone and Auggies myself as Strikezone tended to give the best price per mini, while Auggies let me unload more minis on them without having to use a bulk SKU (Where you could send anything, but only be paid pennies per mini).

Thanks very much for all your advice guys! I will need to get the most out off this as much as I hate having to split everything up, so I guess it's worth taking the extra time to inventory everything correctly. >_<

This should not be too shocking. The more time you spend on something, the more money you could earn. This might be a good life lesson.

Just a quick bump, I'll be listing my collection through this month. Starting bids are going to be low. I'll update my first post with the eBay link.
