It sounds like, with New Republic just winning the Danville Regional, that all nine factions (I don't think it's realistic to expect Fringe to ever win one) have won a Regional this year. It's great to have such an open meta.
I was recently listening to the Sith Holonews Network episode from near the start of 2010, after the end of production was announced, about the plans that were made for the v-sets, and there were lots of things that were really well thought out right from the start.
- Not messing with any of the rules and pieces Wizards made. - Bringing the lesser factions forward - Printing the cards professionally
It looks like all this has been achieved really well, and there's a huge variety of squads that are good! So congratulations to everyone involved in the v-set; play-testers, administrators, printers, quality checkers, rules consultants, graphic people, designers, and everyone else! The game was fun when I started, but it's way more fun now.
