Interesting question here. A character moves over an allied character that is adjacent to a character with snare. The character then moves from the adjacent square and is snared on the aoo. Where would the character's movement end?

The movement is stopped, and the character does not leave the square where the AoO happened.

And what happens to the character that was already in the square?

Here, some visual for you

X=enemy with snare, O=character moving, A=ally, W=wall, [] = empty

[][]W
X A O
WWW

O moves onto A's square in order to then move up one and make a melee attack against X. However, on the AOO, X hits O. What happens? A and O can not exits on the same square but snare stops the movement.

In that situation, the snared character would be moved to the nearest possible square and then stopped.

So, in the situation described, it could move to a square adjacent to the snare character and attack it? That is what I assumed but I wanted to make sure.

Yep. In the example posted, if O were snared, he'd be pushed to either back to his starting position or the square above A, your choice. O would not be able to be moved to the square above X though as that would be considered two squares away, whereas the other two squares are 1 square away.
