The fourth poll of the day... This question is for when: The map is skirmish size and medium range. Doors are scattered around and not common or uncommon. And it is not tile wars.

Non-melee is inherently stronger, it is a base fact.

A wise man told me"don't bring a knife to a gun fight" nothing like a good blaster by your side

I can't really choose, because of personal experience, but melee was lonely.

Just think of how INSANE Mace LotLS would be without Melee. Now think of how 'meh' Cad Bane would be with Melee. This question is inherently flawed

Melee pieces have generally got stronger in the last couple of years, IMO; the last two years GenCon winning squads were largely melee, apart from this year's squad having Rex. While pre v-sets, Jedi Weapon Masters, from 2006, were still up there with the best melee pieces while shooters had evolved into quad GMA pieces like Rex, Dash, and Cad Bane.
Melee pieces have got stronger stats and abilities, and more favourable maps, to make up for the disadvantage of being melee. It's more balanced than it used to be.

By definition, non-melee is stronger than melee. Melee is a restriction while non-melee is the lack of that restriction. The real question is whether non-melee pieces in general are stronger than melee pieces. I'd say no. During the WotC years especially. Things are more even now, but melee still has a bit of a disadvantage.
GMA should have been found exclusively on melee pieces, imo. Instead, WotC put it almost exclusively on non-melee pieces.

I believe that non-melee is certainly better than melee, but I know somebody else who thinks the opposite. He wanted to make a rule that you can't attack around a corner with a melee attack, and even made a custom hand-drawn map of two separate platforms. In the middle of the two platforms was a huge 16 square gap, so no melee character could get to the other side of the map without flight and speed 12 or something insane like that. I have to agree that melee characters have become a bit more powerful now, though, with new V-sets popping up everywhere, with assault and backlash.
