No, it's more that people are overlooking the VERY specific circumstances where Darth Bane was top tier. Only in 1 format, that was quickly getting ignored (150 was starting to get popular, and many always preferred 200). He was never a real viable option in 150 or 200. To say that powercreep is what did him in, is 100 percent false. Granted, a lot of it is sort of a need to rethink the piece. Sith Sorcery is greater than Assault or Rage. Is he one of what I consider a salvagable piece, sure. But to blame powercreep for his lack of tournament play is not seeing the true problem.

As pond got bigger, he didn't.

His cost for how much damage he does is overshadowed by what other peices can do at less points and more survivability. 82pts is a lot for one peice when you can have Kaan and Darth Zannah for 2pts more together. Both don't have sorcery, but Kaan can be just as good at taking out activations with his thought bomb. Zannah will survive a lot longer to do more damage. The fact is spending 82 points for 100 dmg is rather antiquated now. This is the reason he has lost his edge in even 100pt games that he used to have. I'm just saying that if a person were to ever build a 200pt squad to be competitive, they would skip Bane since there are better choices for less cost that do more damage for their cost. Now if you think that is false, your entitled to your opinion. As am I. But power creep is real and and people who have been playing this game for a long time (like me and you) have seen formerly good peices get outclassed by newer peices.

I playtested San Hill vs Bane at 100. The ascension of activation control was going to put the end to him if the 100 pt format had continued. Weapons Masters were also shown to be able to swarm fairly decently. Add in the great Boba Fett Disentegration scare, Bane's top tier power had a limited shelf life. It wasn't necessarily powercreep, but a shift in the game that did him in. Yes, did powercreep leave him behind, sure, but that was much later, after he had already fallen out of favor.
Could he have done well if he was played more for Sorcery than pure damage? I'm not sure. Given the sucess I had with Freedon Nadd after MOTF dropped, he could've.

Bane has always been my favorite since I read the books (surprised huh?) Given I don't play competitively, as there's no where for me to do so, I still think bane is terrifying in any match. When i use him I always wind up taking out any jedi time. Who doesn't love dropping Maul COTF in 1 turn? Yes I would love to see a new one made as well. The design team did an amazing job making dessel and I love him as well, even though I have only had once chance to play him. I do think we need more gloom walkers though. There has been much talk of some one who helped out bane and the first one who hasent been made that I can think of is caleb. He was forced to heal bane on multiple occasions even though they were never allies. I think he should be made. Heres my take on him.
Caleb Medicine Man 31 Hit Points: 50 Defense: 17 Attack: 5 Damage: 10 Rarity: Rare Base: Medium Special Abilities Damage Reduction 10 (Whenever this character takes damage, reduce the damage dealt by 10. Attacks with lightsabers ignore this special ability.) Emergency Life Support (Adjacent living allies gain Avoid Defeat) Heal 30 (Replaces attacks: touch; remove 30 damage from a living character) Augment Healing (Adjacent allies that use Heal or Force Heal double the amount of damage removed) Pure of Heart (Can not be on a squad containing characters from the Empire, Separatist or Sith Faction if any of those characters have a force rating.) Antivenom (Replaces attacks: touch; adjacent character who is effected by poision looses thoes effects) "He was a healer. Wise. Strong. A man who commanded respect." ―The Huntress

Ignoring the fact that it was a robot that bumped this thread, is a new Darth Bane something we might see in v-6 or v-7?
I would say of all the existing WotC pieces that could use a remake Bane has to be very near the top of the list, yes?
