Fringe R2 Units? Options

I had a question about r2 units. Were they ever used by factions outside of the republic/ rebelion/new republic? Were they strictly military grade? We never got a fringe version like we did the other R-Units. I saw on wikipedia that the empire used r3's.

Are there plans for more R-Units in the v-sets? so far we have 3, which get us targetting, override, and repair. Not sure what else would fit them if we did get an r2 option or any other variant

I reckon a better Repair one would be good sometime - the current one is mostly ineffectual.
