To clarify,
If the question is can Caedus target himself, no.
Caedus can target an ally with SBM.

I know that when you target an ally for SBM or Dominate, it just has to be any of your pieces within line-of-sight. But what if you want to target an ally and an enemy character is closer than all your allies? Do you have to target that enemy or can you always target your own pieces. And, what if there is an adjacent enemy, would they be the only legal target seeing as you must deal with adjacent enemies 1st?

In the case of an adjacent enemy, you would be forced to target that enemy. Rulebook wrote:Adjacent Enemies: If enemies are adjacent to the attacker, it must target one of those enemies. Otherwise, if you can see an ally you can target it with SBM or Dominate even if an enemy is closer.
