Is it possible for a CE to affect the character giving the CE, via Mouse Droid etc.? I would imagine not, and want to make sure.

Also, do commander effects, like ranged abilities, have to count 2 squares for diagonal tracing when finding out if a piece is in range?

2. Yes, range for diagonals are 2.
