The text of ROTS Royal Guard says "Emperor." Certainly, this applies to all Imperial Emperor Palpatines. But since it only says "Emperor," can a Royal Guard use its Bodyguard Special Ability for Emperor Roan Fel?

"Emperor" is in Roan Fel's name. I saw no errata indicating that the Royal Guard's Bodyguard SA was only for Palpatine?

Also as a side note, any follower can be a bodyguard to Emperor Roan Fel due to his Commander Effect.

HE could even guard a Darth Sideous, because on its unique SA, it says "counts as emporor".RollEyes

For Darth Sidious, it would have to be in-faction, if there is ever a "Darth Sidious" in the Imperial faction. If it is for fun, mixed-faction, then, yes, the Royal Guard would be a factor.

The Royal Guard is a stronger Twi'lek Bodyguard...better stats (particularly ATK & DMG). It can also benefit from CEs. Weequay Leader comes to mind, but I'm sure there could be others.

Yes, Fel's CE grants any adjacent ally Bodyguard.

I was seeking some uses for the Royal Guard before shelving it. There are more possibilities now. I'll have to think about some CEs.

Emperor's Bodyguard won't work on Darth Sidious. Because it came out before COTF, and refers to a character, it is considered to read "If a character whose name contains Emperor". Counting as Emperor Palpatine does not put it in his name, which is why the Coruscant Guards do not get Rapport with Anakin Skywalker, Sith Apprentice.

Royal Guards can bodyguard Mara Jade, Emperor's Hand too, because her name contains Emperor.

I never would have thought about Mara in relationship to the Royal Guards.

Possibly another use for older pieces.

I thought of another after Shinja's post.

Emperor's Shadow Guard.

Interesting how an old piece, rarely used, is finding more applications.
