(Stealing this thread idea from saber1, hope you don't mind ThumbsUp )

I like the new Luke from V-set 6 (stats below) and I was wondering what people might be thinking about playing with him right now. A few squad ideas of mine below

24. Luke Skywalker, Hero of Endor
Cost 44

Hit Points 110
Defence 21
Attack 14
Damage 20
Special Abilities
Unique. Melee Attack
Double Attack; Twin Attack, Djem So Style,
Versatility [At the start of the skirmish, after set-up, you may replace this character with another character of an equal or lesser cost who counts as Luke Skywalker. The chosen replacement gains one of this character's other special abilities. If the replacement's cost is at least 5 less than this character's cost, he also gains this character's commander effect.]
Force 3. Force Renewal 1
Knight Speed , Lightsaber Assault , Lightsaber Defence , Overwhelming Force

--Hero of Endor and Dagobah--
44 Luke Skywalker, Hero of Endor
36 Yoda of Dagobah
27 Ferus Olin
27 Han Solo, Smuggler
27 Lobot
18 Twi'lek Black Sun Vigo
14 General Rieekan
6 Mouse Droid x2

--GMA Heros--
44 Luke Skywalker, Hero of Endor
27 Ferus Olin
27 Han Solo, Smuggler
27 Lobot
19 Princess Leia, Rebel Commando
18 Twi'lek Black Sun Vigo
14 General Rieekan
9 General Dodonna
9 R2-D2 with Extended Sensor
6 Mouse Droid x2

Preferred Reinforcements:
(Lobot) 15 Momaw Nadon
(Lobot) 5 Caamasi Noble

And some kind of Savage Luke Skywalker squad with Celeste but I can't quite decide on that yet.

Thoughts?

I like GMA Heroes a lot-it looks very versatile and you've managed to fit in most of the classic Rebel competitiors while keeping it synergised. Are you planning to swqap Luke out using Versatility in HoE&D? I'm not sure how much Yoda actually does for Luke HoE. Luke's a good beat but the benefit of giving him a bunch of extra FP dosen't seem to be that huge. I dunno, maybe I'm not being fair to his possibilities when paired with a Force battery but I think he works better in GMA Heroes.

Too bad we can't run Luke HoE at the Delaware regional, eh? BigGrin

I'm very disappointed I can't run him at the DE Regional, I would have done that in a heartbeat. (Would have made picking squads easier tooThumbsUp )

In both squads I would generally just stick with Luke, HoE.

I also tend to think GMA Heros is better, Hero of Endor and Dagobah is a bit more of a fun Squad. My thoughts on Yoda are he keeps Luke's Force Points relatively in tact by letting him spend Yoda's on Defense, Ferus runs interference and bodyguards, but Yoda's main purpose is to throw out as much Force Stun as possible, and eventually give Luke MotF 2 via Spirit so he can Knight Speed and Assault all over the board. (Also I think initially I had a different Han in there with a FP who would have spent Yoda's.)

Yeah, that makes sense. I think Luke HoE is pretty much the strongest Luke out there atm for his cost or lower. Luke LotLS really has to be built around specifically and Luke Commando isn't as good a beat as HoE without some good support (not to mention the cost difference).

While there is a hefty cost difference I think there might be some potential in giving Luke Commando Twin, with Cunning 20 and Leia Commando +GMA Double/Twin he could put out A LOT OF damage, you just have to do a good job to protect him as he is very fragile. (and find a good way to boost his attack)

I also think he might have potential in Pilot squads with Biggs granting him Pilot

And I'd like to see what could be done with a Hero of Yavin with Djem So...it at least gives him a chance up close.

Oh, I definitely agree on the CA20 Double Twin. That's why I mentioned the support. In these squads you don't have Madine so I doubt I'd bring Luke Commando in.

I don't think it would be worth it. He might have Djem So but with that 70 HP and no Block he's still dead immediately when adjacent to a beat, no matter whether or not he can hit the back. Better to give him something to better enable him to shoot and run.

I'm not saying it is ideal, but in the right scenario swapping out HoE (a melee beat) for HoY (a solid shooter) could work and really the only ability you'd want to give him is Djem So. Again I'm not saying it is ideal but now instead of automatically dying against a melee piece he at least has a chance to do (at least) 40 damage.

And with Biggs auto giving Luke Pilot, it wouldn't break your CEs no matter what Luke you choose.

And there is Luke Legacy with Built in Double/GMA you can throw Twin on him as well

Pilot squad featuring Luke, HoE. Now he has speed 8 and GMA and can do 120 damage Unpreventable Damage with a +18 attack. Biggs and Dash are GMA shooters the Green Squadron either Grenades 30 from Dutch or combine fire to help Dash and Biggs stick important hits.

28 Dash Rendar, Renegade Smuggler
27 Lobot
22 Biggs Darklighter, Rebel Pilot
21 Jon "Dutch" Vander

18 Twi'lek Black Sun Vigo
9 General Dodonna
12 Green Squadron Pilot x2

It doesn't seem like he has one, I don't know if his Versatility text on the card will be updated to reflect that or if it sill stay in there for consistency of Versatility.

And most of my ideas rely on him being a follower haha so I'm hoping it stays that way (though I also want a Commander Rebel Luke.)

I made this recently. Yeah, the name is lame.

--New School Rebels--
44 Luke Skywalker, Hero of Endor
38 Han Solo, Rebel General
28 General Lando Calrissian
27 Biggs Darklighter, Rebel Pilot
21 Jon "Dutch" Vander
19 Princess Leia, Rebel Commando
8 Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Spirit
6 Mouse Droid x2
9 Ugnaught Demolitionist x3

(200pts. 12 activations)

Luke gains Evade and Pilot. Pilot gives him access to Dutch's CE and Lando's CE. He can benefit from Leia's CE as well. That's 4 attacks @ +18 for 40 each! Use Overwhelming Force and its nearly an auto-kill of most any enemy.

I think there is real potential in the Pilot Luke Squads, Biggs+Luke+Dutch alone is a pretty nice foundation and as you can see we built 2 different squads that I think would both do pretty well. The damage boost+Overwhelming Force is a great combo, plus if you Versatile Han down to Rebel General you can give Luke Advantageous Attack!

And as for the name my Pilot one was Space Luke...maybe we need to work on these...Wink

--Timey-Wimey, Swappy-Wappy--
44 Luke Skywalker, Hero of Endor
27 Lobot
23 Crix Madine, SpecForce Commander
20 K-3PO
40 SpecForce Marine x2
18 Twi'lek Black Sun Vigo
14 General Rieekan
9 R2-D2 with Extended Sensor
4 Gran Raider

Preferred Reinforcements:
(Lobot) 8 Gran Raider x2
(Lobot) 9 Mouse Droid x3
(Lobot) 3 Rodian Brute

This is a bit based on something CorranHorn, Darth_Jim (and maybe Hinkbert? can't remember if he left yet) talked about on Saturday. Crix Madine starts half-way up the map. With K-3PO, Mice can move 16 squares, and now Luke Skywalker is swapped half-way across the map guarding Gambit. Specforce Charge their way across the map and provide other swap spots for Luke while the Gran Raiders hang out near K-3PO for Emergency swaps.

I really want to do that with a SpecForce squad and Han but I couldn't quite make it work. I think Luke has a better shot. Plus it just seems fun BlooMilk

I'm really fond of Luke, Biggs, and Dutch. Obviously since they both came out in this set they were playtested together a lot. The one issue with squads like that is lack of really good movement breaker options, since Luke RC is the best movement breaker in Rebels. However, when you play them with things like Leia (Rebel Commando OR Princess Leia), Han Rebel General, etc., you get pretty good staying power along with a LOT of power output, with a good combination of both melee power and ranged power. I'm very much looking forward to playing him once he's legal.

IPrincess Leia having another big Twin Attacker to use outside of Han, Scoundrel is really nice, especially with pilot buffs.
