2 predictions: I agree with Tint that Mandos win, and that Tim Ballard finally breaks the top 8 barrier.

Cool!
And likely, this will the Mandos' only shot at it for a while. Mandos have always been about Twin...once the Shield Tech hits the meta, I fear that a great many things will change, and not for the better (at least, not "better" from the Mandos' perspective).

Yeah - it's really a bummer for the Mandos. They finally got really competitive (thank you Kelborn), but the shield tech hurts them far more than any faction.

It still cuts the damage output of Kelborn and the Scouts (plus others) fully in half. That stings, because it leaves MTV as pretty much the only piece that will be doing more than 60dmg/round, and he tends to get shot up when he stands there in LOS. Now, it's not like your opponent will be always camping everybody around the Shield Tech, so maybe it won't be that bad in practice. But still, it won't be too hard to really mess things up for the mandos with intelligent maneuvering.

Like any other squad, it just means they can't rely too heavily on any one ability. Take Twin but also take something to take out the shield tech quickly. Shae Vizla with Missiles x2 is happy to see the opponent bunch up around the Shield Tech.

And if folks do start camping around the Shield Tech Shae Vizla can clean house!

I pick Dr. Daman for the win... oh, wait - travel time might be an issue...
Seriously though - have a great time for Gencon y'all! NZ is thinking of you!

Seriously though - have a great time for Gencon y'all! NZ is thinking of you! I still think that squad is really tough - the only things that have beaten it in the last couple of big tournaments in NZ are Sharron's OR Revan squad, which almost seems like a specific hate squad against it, and Tim's Mandos, which Dr Daman adjusted for and beat in the repeat. To beat it consistently, I think you either need a counter to Master Tactician and/or a way of killing activations quickly. Is there any squad out there that can beat both Cad/Morrigan/Thrawn and the Sith tank squads? I guess if there are a few good Lancer/Yobuck squads out there at GenCon, it might shake things up enough that anything could win....

Lou wrote:Can I play 2 squads? Yes...just make sure that you don't slow-play in either of your matches. And it would also probably be a good idea to see if you can get seats beside each other so you're not running back and forth between maps all day.

No, no, no!
