I heard the following. Can someone comment or clear up any confusion I have with this?:

1) Kota's force repulse 5 does not affect people in the cart or the cart itself when Kota uses that ability from the cart.

2) Two mediums in the rebel cart have cover from the rebel cart if attacked (but, how would someone be able to attack them? Wouldn't they have to attack the cart first unless they had accurate shot or sniper)?

3) Two mediums in the cart can attack from the cart with all of their attacks.

4) Does Hoth Leia's roll to bring back from the dead get rolled the second the troop cart dies even if there are passengers thus ensuring their survival or do I roll the die first for the passengers per the troop cart instructions and then if the save fails I roll Leia's save of 16?

5) Any other odd rulings about this or general insights about the rebel troop cart would be appreciated.

1.) no it does not affect the people in the cart that im aware of.

2/3.)if they dont move out of they may attack with all there attacks. yes they will have to attack the cart first ik accurate ignores that im not sure about sniper. and they get cover.

4.) you roll the save for the cart and them the people in the cart. after that u use leias CE to roll for the defeated characters in the cart.

5.) i can get evade from reiken :D

They are the same distance as the cart, so they would count as the closest enemy, being equidistant with the cart. The enemy could choose either the cart (possibly without cover) or someone in the cart (with cover). Note the slight difference between the Troop Cart and the Nikto Gunner Skiff.

Correct. They aren't moving, so they can use all of their attacks.

Sounds like simultaneous events, and if so that means you get to choose the order things happens.

when attacking from the cart, do you count from the carts base? If so, is a melee ally in the cart considered adjacent to an enemy that the cart is adjacent to? It sounds like you are saying yes, and I just wanted to clarify.

yes if the cart is adjacent to the enemy and u have a melee piece in the cart you are considered adjacent and may attack with the melee piece

If I decide to get out of the cart, do I count getting out as 1 or do I place my character anywhere adjacent to the cart, not count it as 1 and then proceed to move if I so choose?

So...if I get out I must be adjacent to it for that move and can not attack, use a SA or advance until the next round, right?

This is not correct. You cannot get out of the cart on your turn at all. "A transported ally can return to the battle grid immediately before your first activation of the round." This is not part of anyone's turn and does not replace anyone's turn.

You get into the cart by ending your movement adjacent to it on your turn. This does not replace turn or attack, either.

Getting out of the cart is kind of strange timing. It's *your* first activation of the *round*, not your first activation of a phase and not the first activation of the round. If your opponent goes first, you wait until they take their turn before you remove characters from the troop cart. If you don't do it then, they stay in the cart until the next round (unless the cart is defeated).

So... I only have 1 activation to start the round, I could then remove both characters in the troop cart and then proceed to activate my first character which may or may not be one of the characters that were just in the troop cart, right?

I'll jump on this bus too :)

1) Yes, Kota's repulse affects the cart, and anyone else in the cart (they are all adjacent) and all other characters within 5 squares of the cart.

2) As was stated, they count as the same distance as the cart, so unless another enemy in cover is closer than the cart, the passengers are all legal targets. Unless an attacker is adjacent to the cart, passengers with Cloaked could not be targeted. If the cart is more than 6 squares from the attacker, passengers with Stealth would not be legal targets unless the attacker had Accurate Shot or an ability that ignores cover. Sniper would not work as the cover is granted by the Troop Cart ability, not the cart itself.

3) already answered

4) The passengers would not roll a save until the cart is defeated, so the roll for Leia HC's CE should come first.

clear as mud? Smile

I forgot to clarify about movement - they don't move, but they take the damage:

FAQ wrote:
Q: If a passenger uses Force Repulse, what happens to the transporting character or any other passengers?

A: They are affected by the damage and any stunning effects, but do not move. Other passengers and the transport count as within range X regardless of what X is.

I read on another SWM website that a ruling was issued that Kota's Force repulse 5 doesn't affect the cart or the other passenger. Have you ever heard of this? Maybe it was the case and then later changed, or perhaps the other website was totally wrong, but that would seem odd. They seem to have had their act together.

2) In the case above, Kota would also take the damage? Why?

Kota himself does not take any damage, as Repulse range is counted from HIM. Note that the FAQ says 'other passengers and the transport'.

Also, I'm not familiar with the ruling on another website that you mentioned. That said, there have been a number of rulings changed over the years. I don't know if this is one of them.

Thanks

Q: "If a passenger uses Force Repulse, what happens to the transporting character or any other passengers?"

This threw me off because it makes it seem like it's either talking about Kota or that there could be more than two passengers in the troop cart and I know there can only be two, so I thought it was referring to Kota.
