"Lightsaber Throw 2", is activated, and the character has Twin Attack. The character targets a character being protected by "Adaptive Shields", does he lose his Twin Attack? Thanks in advance..........................

They still have Melee Attack so I'd say they do not lose their Twin

Even when Lightsaber Throw counts as a non-melee attack?

juice man wrote:Even when Lightsaber Throw counts as a non-melee attack? but i think Advanced Shields says that the character cannot have melee attack on their card and Jedi have melee attack on the card. so it wouldn't work im guessing.

That's why I kinda was thinking that as well, because throw is a ranged attack. What is the theory of adaptive shields? I'm assuming is has something to do with disrupting blaster fire. Although, regular shields does work against lightsabers.........................

Does anyone know the theory/explanation of "Shields" and "Adaptive Shields" in the Star Wars universe?

Adaptive Shields
Card Text

so in the text it would only apply to characters without melee attack on their card.

I was looking for a Star Wars universe explanation to make sense of it. To try and visualize and theorize how it works in theory. I understand what the rule is, but I am trying to make sense of the mechanics of it all.

Yeah, not only that, but throw is not a melee attack, which is why this is confusing me?????????

Just in case, for the record, to the powers that be, I am not trying to argue the ruling, just understand the flow and dynamics of it all :)

Flavor wise I like to think that there is a wide shield in front of you, Once it is hit once, all power is redirected to that area to stop the second shot of a rapid fire twin. With lightsabers a Twin attack is probably a quick slash left and then right, with a throw the saber is spinning quickly hitting you multiple times on the way in and out making the shield difficult to concentrate power and totally prevent the damage. DarthMaim wrote:Yeah, not only that, but throw is not a melee attack, which is why this is confusing me????????? Throw is a non-melee attack for certain in game effects but Adaptive Shields does not look for Non-melee attacks. It looks for attacks from people without the Melee Attack SA. I'm sure this was done for game balance purposes.

DarthMaim wrote:Does anyone know the theory/explanation of "Shields" and "Adaptive Shields" in the Star Wars universe? I'll give you mine: Shields: Pretty much KotOR. Energy shields worked against both blasters and lightsabers in KotORs I and II, and Mando Melee Shields were pretty good versus Vibroblades. So just imagine someone having both. Adaptive Shields: I think of it as wiring the shielding technology so that, when hit in one place, the shield uses the blaster's power to strengthen itself temporarily afterwards. Twin Attacks occur in such rapid succession that the Shield is still so booster that the Twin doesn't do anything. However, Extra Attacks are more spaced out. For lightsabers... Well, lightsabers are one object. They get off their second attack before the shield can strengthen.
