When a ability or power says "instead of making its normal attack". Do you make an normal attack roll?

****Sorry I meant to say something like "lightsaber throw". Where it does not list a specific damage #.***

I assume you mean something like Missiles?

In which case, no, you do not make an attack roll.

Here is information on Replacing Attacks or "instead of making Normal Attacks" http://www.bloomilk.com/Glossary?Id=47

If an ability or Force Power like that requires an attack it will specifically say "make an attack" like with Blaster or Lightsaber Assault or Lightsaber Throw

Otherwise many of them do not need attack rolls like SignerJ said.

Ok so to make sure I understand.

Lightsaber Throw (Force 1, replaces attacks: Attack 1 enemy within 6 squares)

So how much damage would this inflict? Can it miss etc?

yes it can miss, you make an attack adding all normal bonuses and compare it to defense just like normal.

Damage is the same way, add all modifiers and add them to your base damage. For instance, if Luke Skywalker, Galactic Hero is using LS Throw against a Force User, Jedi Hunter triggers and he is now throwing his lightsaber for 30 damage a pop.

u make an attack like if you were shooting at them. so u roll the dice then determine if you hit or miss. basically Lightsaber throw helps the jedi so he doesnt have to base the enemy.
