GOWK and Doombot are usually important for the Republic. You need a Shaper for Vong. A Battle Droid Officer is an auto-include for any Separatist squad. Mandos need a Mandalorian Captain. And then Dondonna and Rieekan for the Rebels.

^ I think shock Fett meant pieces that need to be bought. Wotc pieces. If that is the case you'll need probably: Republic-Mas, GOWK, Panaka, Doombot, and maybe Yobuck. Maybe Rex and jar jar Rebel- Reeikan, Dodonna, maybe K-3P0 New Republic- General Wedge Vong- Nom Anor, Vong Shaper, maybe a priest Sith- Sidogram, Malak, dark lord of the Sith Imperial- probably both thrawns, maybe palps on throne Mando- Mandalorian Captain, some Mando Scouts Old Republic-Maybe the OR Captain? Otherwise Bastila Shan for Her Jedi Master version Separatists- Greivous Droid Army Commander, Battle Droid Officer, maybe Commando Droid Captain. IG lancer and Darth Sidious. Fringe- plenty of mice and uggies, maybe cad bane, Boba Bh, Gha Nackt and jarael. Both lobots, dash RS, and a czerka

To make most of the really good squads at the end of Wizards era, I'd go with this - you do seem to have a lot of them already. I might be forgetting one or two crucial pieces though - doing this quickly....
Republic - R2-D2 Astromech, Mas Amedda, Yoda on Kybuck, General Skywalker, Captain Panaka, Captain Rex, GOWK, 2 * Jedi Weapon Masters
Rebel - Princess Leia, Dodonna, Luke Rebel Commando, Han Smuggler, Crix Madine, Elite Rebel Commandos, General Rieekan
New Republic - Ganner Rhysode, Mara Jade Jedi, Anakin Solo, Dodonna, Han Solo Galactic Hero, Kyle Katarn Jedi Battlemaster, General Wedge Antilles, Jagged Fel
Imperial - Mitt'Thrawn, Lord Vader, Vader Scourge of the Jedi, Arica, Ozzel, Cad Bane (I know he's Fringe, but Imperial is his best faction).
Separatists- Grievous Droid Army Commander, General Whorm Loathsom, Battle Droid Officer, IG Lancer (*2?), Darth Sidious, San Hill, IG-86 * 4 (I know they're Fringe, but you're only going to use them in Seps).
Fringe- 27 point Lobot, Dash, Jarael. Lots of the cheap fodder pieces - R7, at least 3 Ugnaughts, some Mouse Droids, a bunch of Rodian Brutes for swap squads, other useful bits and pieces like a Treadwell Droid, a Human Bodyguard, a Czerka, a Rakghoul, etc. Gha Nachkt and 10 Mice was pretty popular before v-sets introduced deterrents.
The other factions weren't very good before the v-set. They basically have one good piece each. Mando - Mandalorian Captain, Mandalorian Scouts Vong - Vong Jedi Hunters Sith - Darth Sidious Hologram OR - Jedi Battlemasters

It was popular in some squads, especially New Republic and Rebel squads with Dodonna, to have Gha Nachkt in your base squad, and to use his rapport to bring in 10 Mouse Droids with Lobot's reinforcements for some matchups. Having ten 20 defense Mouse Droids in the way can be really annoying if the other player doesn't have any way to kill pieces quickly, and it often guaranteed that you could outactivate the other player and get to go last (really helpful for squads like Han Cannon). The v-sets have meant that this doesn't happen so often, with more counters to the mouse wall, but it was really common for a while.
