To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what all does and doesn't work. Mismatched opening and ending brackets definitely cause problems. Character and ability names should work fine inside square brackets. Other times it just displays the tags as normal text.

I put square brackets in a Chazrach comment too - sorry.
I think there's something similar happening with a comment for the first character in Command of the Galaxy too - Arca Jeth - but that wasn't me!
