This is complicated so I'm sure something is probably wrong. If so, what is wrong?

I have Recon, Anticipation and Sense the Future. My opponent has Recon, Anticipation and Sense the Future.
I have Reserves on a 6 or 11. He has Reserves on 17.

We roll initiative, each of us rolling two dice for Recon.
I roll 6, 18. He rolls 17, 19. We both prefer to win initiative instead of getting our Reserves. If we can't win initiative we want reserves. So neither wants to choose the die first. We resolve the standoff by deciding to each select a die simultaneously. I choose the 18 but I lose anyway. He chooses the 19 to guarantee he wins init (not willing to risk losing init by taking the 17). He says, "You go first."

Realizing that I lost initiative, I reroll my two dice with Anticipation and I get 5, 20. I choose the 20 and now I have the highest initiative, 20-19. I say, "You go first."

He uses Anticipation and rolls 11, 11. I really want the Reserves that trigger on 11, so I then use Sense the Future to steal those Reserves. He is now winning initiative 20-11. He says, "I go first."

I get my Reserves and he starts the round. Does that all work?

I think so. And that is a scary amount of initiative control. And that couldn't happen because only vader, agent of evil has reserves on a 17 and there's no sense the future in imperials. Unless you betray qui-ghost or krynda. And have a probe Droid or clobot.

Or you are playing sealed.

No. If you both have Anticipation, you must choose to use it at the same time. If he passes on using Anticipation while you choose to use it, he cannot use it later.

Sithborg,

Thanks. Much appreciated. Knowing the answer made it easier to google the answer, so I went back to find the original ruling. Here are the threads:

Apparently the Wizards forums are still there if you have a direct link, but since they are likely to disappear any moment (since officially they were already discontinued), here is the direct quote from NickName:

Question: Okay, I am a bit fuzzy how two opposing players would resolve Anticipations. I might've missed it in the FAQ, but I couldn't find a thread about it either.

_nickname_: Like reserves or reinforcements, players decide secretly, and simultaneously reveal their choice.

Does Sense the Future work the same way as Anticipation with both players deciding simultaneously? If so, is the decision before or after Anticipation? Or simultaneous with it?

i believe it was ruled that the choice for sense the future happens after a final number is determined to stop the possibility of wonky things. THough if somone does have a Muun tactics broker it has an odd effect
