I have a custom Special Ability I have been working on for a while and have 3 characters with it currently. It's called Quick Learner and it's current wording is (Whenever an allied character within sight uses a Force Power, except for Force Renewal, Master of the Force and Force Powers that are unique (Force powers that only one character has) this character gains that Force power for the rest of the skirmish) A mouthful I know The intent is so when this character sees an ally use a force power than this character may use that force power also. That way the character can gain powers as the skirmish goes on. These are the problems: 1 I don't want any characters to learn very powerful force powers like Advanced Battle Meditation, Mind Meld, Master Mind Meld. Any suggestions on how to accomplish that?

Limiting it to Force powers that deal/prevent damage or targeted Force powers may work. Unique Force powers is a tough qualifier to keep track of and can change in the next set. Limiting to within 6 squares might help as well.

Those are some good ideas, I will definitly use them to help out its wording.

Might I suggest another name (though I reserve the right to use it in the future)? I like the name Force Prodigy.

Maybe have the wording something like (Force powers used within 6 squares of this character that cost 2 or less Force Points may be used by this character as if they were his/her own. Advance Battle Meditation can not be copied unless Battle Meditation was copied and used by this character during the skirmish.)

I think one big issue is that an ability like this can get really hard to keep track of really fast. Perhaps limit it to a singular ability or two? Something like:
Force Prodigy (At the start of the skirmish, select one allied unit with a force rating. This character gains all Force Powers of that character that have a printed cost of 1 Force Point).

How about this?
Force Tutor (Allies with a Force Rating and without Master in their name, on their turn may use 1 of this characers Force Powers as if it were their own.)
For this I was thinking about the next step up from Force Bond, a Masters ability to share and teach more than one at a time, but if you are wanting to be able to make all of the 'ability' holders FPowers available to a certain character, ala Camaradrie, I'd suggest just Enhanced Force Bond, with the +1 Force Point suggested above.

'Unique force powers' just won't work as a game term. It is undefined and is really undefinable. It would change as sets are released. And since this is on a custom piece, it's completely up in the air because then you have to ask which custom pieces count for 'unique'.
Others' ideas sound good. Targeted Force powers or Force powers that cost 1 or 2 Force points is probably the best restriction. I'm really not a fan of tracking status like that - you'll have to keep track of which Force powers the character knows as the skirmish goes on - may require pen & paper. I'd favor something like this instead:
Quick Learner [Force X, after setup: Choose X Force powers from allies where each Force power costs 1 or 2 Force points. This character gains those Force powers for the rest of the skirmish.]
Limited to the number of Force points the character starts with, but you'll get them all up front so that you don't have the confusion of keeping track of who knows what when (especially if you run multiple learners in the same skirmish).

Here is what I decided on: Quick Learner (Force powers used within 6 squares of this character that cost 2 or less Force Points may be used by this character as if they were his own for the rest of the skirmish)
And
Force Prodigy X (After setup: Choose X Force powers from allies where each Force power costs 1 or 2 Force points. This character gains those Force powers for the rest of the skirmish.)
