It would be to make lobot the only character with override and every other piece that has it gains door gimmick. The ability to close a door is one of the most underrated abilities in the game.(IMO) I think the R7 is under costed.
If you want to stop lock out victories you could make it so hack can only open doors. Otherwise there are going to people who will exploit this to win by decreasing engagement. In short I think it is to powerful. I appreciate the information and concern, but in all of our playtests nothing suggests it is all the abuseable. if anything, at least in our play group, it has led to increased engagement and faster games due to being able to get to gambit and open doors quicker to start the fighting. i played a game yesterday with no ughs and one slicer with 9 activations, against a squad with a slicer, r2-d2 astro and 2 ughs and still won the game even tho i was outacted and only had one slicer as door control.

The Chadra Fan Slicer has been a lot of fun in playtesting. We went into it with the idea to try it out, and if it was too powerful we would get rid of it, and change the ability to something else. However no one has had an issue with it, and it's seen quite a few playtests. It works just like override, so an R7 can override a door that has been Hacked close. Uggies can still blow the door open. It's created some interesting strategic moments. My goal when I head into a game is to use the Chadra Fan Slicer to make my opponent have to override a door open with his R7 that he didn't want to.
The piece does speed up play and it goes a long way towards preventing lock out victories. The piece also makes for a great piece to collect gambit towards the end of the game after all the key doors have already been blown open.
