I know I dislike having a ton of polls that pop up, but I am going to use the poll system to help me decide what type of event to run. It should be fun to actually put the system to use to actually help make a decision. Descriptions of some of the events are in my post in the General section if you don't know what they mean.

The rest of the event information is listed below. The event will Constructed- 200 points.

SERIOUS POSTS & VOTES ONLY

Please post why you made your choice in this topic as I hope to generate discussion about the theme and also let me know if you will be attending.

EVENT SPECIFICS

Entry fee: $3.00-5.00 (I'll buy a couple boosters to use as prizes)
Payment: On the day of the tourney is fine.
Where: Gallucci Residence Hall at the University of Akron
When: Saturday June 13th- Arrive at 10:00- play starts at 10:30
Point level: 200
Theme- something different or straight up constructed?

Max. players: 16
Game time limit: 1 hr.
Gambit: Yes
DCI: No (we will use the new initiative rule)
Style: Not sure- probably Swiss, but we could roll and play the first round by rolls.

House rules: Force users can spend a force point to open a door that is not currently overridden. They can do this at any point along their movement, but it must be done on their turn.
Prizes: Yes, but what they are and for which places will be determined later, once I know how many people will be playing.
Judges: Anyone who knows the rules (it's just for fun anyway)

Since we don't play nearly enough, I'd want to play a straight up constructed. I'll look thru the rest to see what else is appealing though.

Isn't the new initiative rule DCI now?

Yes. But we still play with it even if the tourney is not DCI. (aka held at a DCI registered store)

Hey Joe, don't take it hard. The group has a lot of things going on right now and it's hard for any of us to find time for a tournament. Heck, I can't even seem to break away for one. I am planning on being at the JA sealed though.

Perhaps closer to the end of summer will work better for everyone.

Any chance of pushing this off til June 20th? I might be able to make it then. I can also see if I can drag some others with me. BlooMilk

I really don't think the 20th will work for me. I think I have a family reunion that day. I'll check with the Wife and find out if she will allow me to switch my nerd schedule around.

Ok Akron/Canton folks... I am bumping this up to see if there is still any interest? PM me if you are interested.

I finally voted and cast my vote for a straight up constructed event. I'd like to do something fun, but with small numbers it might not go as well. sigh

So far I have myself, Dale and Jack playing on Saturday. Probably not going to do the prize/pay to play thing with so few.

If you can switch it to the 20th, I can be there. I've been very much Jones'ing for a constructed tournament, but I have family obligations on the 13th.

Jason already asked about the 20th and I investigated and found that I have a family golf outing/reunion for my wife's side that I have to go to. I'm going to try to plan one more event in early August so I'll check around to see what works for everyone else.

I just sent out an email to the group. I am hoping to start playing around 10. I'll be ready to go by 9:30.

thanx to Joe! (artemiscfrog) for hosting a fun day of SWM. It was cool to play some different people in a non-competitive game.Chris and I had a good time.
