I would guess that this game interest will increase when the new movies come out. Also the value of each piece as well. Would be nice to see a spark of interest of new players and collectors. Visiting this site and keeping it lively.

@shockfett, we can only hope so heh So long as people keep cross-advertising/viral advertising and keeping the SWMinis clubs represented, there's a fighting chance that SWMinis can beat the odds. Although, there'll be stern competition from the FFG game Imperial Assault, SW:AW, the SW:Command "armymen" line, and other stuff... I don't know if an OOP game will be as attractive an option. As to starwars minis being an 'appreciable asset'... I look forward to hearing more discussion on that and where people think the values at. Personally, I don't believe SWMinis to all be appreciable, because they were mass produced and are made of polyvinyl. Though they are awesome. If you break even, thats a win. A few profited, but most of us will be lucky to break even - if we were to sell that is, hehe I've seen full sets sell locally for ridiculous prices recently though, in near mint in bag stat cards mint unplayed, so I think there might be value. a full set of near mint Rebel Storm went for $1200 USD locally, which I think is a little inflated. there are 60pieces in the set, so thats 1200/60 = your per unit price, or $20 a mini. a full set of misprint promos and promos went for 3800 USD locally, to a local shopkeeper/collector, he paid that for 70 odd minis, so that equates to ~ $60ish USD per figure. Bear in mind, other games like GW40K, which are sold unpainted in resin or pewter, start at around $20-50USD per figure individually, + expert painting etc... it can get around that ballpark heh.

I, along with my sons and another experienced player, have taken on a couple new players and we're trying to get a monthly gaming session going.

Still playing, although the group here has disappeared. Didn't have anything to do with new games capturing interest, or any problems with playing minis...just life and people moving on. I still play against Josh and my son Kris when the opportunity presents itself. I'll be here until the end, but have already jumped in the deep end of the X Wing pool, and am just starting in Armada. Imperial Assault looks great, and I'll play it, but X Wing is where my money is going right now.
I've said it before, though...with all of the minis formats and venues available both in person and online, this is the best time to play our game.

Here in WNY the group has largely transitioned to XW (myself included) but we still support the SWM community at large by holding events such as FrostyCon. The reality is that the hot and new from FFG has captivated the imagination of our PG but I will always play this game as I've got to much invested in it to simply walk away.

This game resonates with me more than most other games. Maybe its the love of Star Wars or the way its set up, it isn't the perfect game as there are flaws but it reaches me the way X-Wing never could. I have played X-Wing a few times and IMO its a beer and pretzel kind of game. Get together with a few buddies, grab a few beers and play. I could never do it competitively or get into in a way such as SWM.

I've kept a contingent of players interest (here in Eugene, OR. USA) in this game by adding an campaign/RP element to minis that also includes Xwing within it. I love this game and have invested too much into it to simply walk away as well. I've found adding the campaign/RP element has attracted some new players and has got them interested in the game itself.
I'm planning on buying the last 4 or 5 (can't remember how many I'm behind on) Vsets next wk (aka payday haha). What I think I love most about this game is how we, the minis community, get to more or less have a part in creating or inspiring the creation of new pieces; tell me where else u can get that?

I have a real hard time seeing this since the game doesnt get a lot of new players and its a discounted game. If I was just getting into a miniature game I would much rather play something that is still in print like X-wing or Imperial Assault. I do think there will be a little buzz but dont think it will great that much more value than before and maybe get a few new players but dont think the game is coming back to live like before.

I am really amazed the Tile wars guys didnt like IA since its really close to tile wars but with missions.
