on the new astromich droid it says targeting(target character gets -4 defense)

now, what does this mean? only for the droids turn, end of skirmish, until next turn?

does it mean that the astromech chooses a Legal Target or any target?

OK but is it a legal target? or any target?

Since it says 'Target', then standard targeting rules apply.
