If you have one enemy adjacent to you and one enemy that is one square away, can you attack either one with melee reach?

and if you have a setup like this:

A = Acklay
E = Enemy

AAA
AAAEE
AAA

can you reach over and attack the enemy that is one square away?

Yes, because both are considered adjacent for purposes of attacking, now if you didnt have melee reach youd have to attack the based up guy.

Extra question: I don't quite understand Melee Reach 2 (and I guess Melee Reach 3...) in terms of how you count the squares away from you diagonally. How the *kriff* does that work?

The same way you do for movement.

XXXBCX

Assuming A has Melee Reach 2, B and D are within Reach and can be considered Adjacent while A is attacking. C is 3 squares away, and thus cannot be considered adjacent.

Im not sure you could attack "B" because it looks from here that they are 3 squares away, you still count diagonal squares as 2, so if your going diagonal you can only attack characters who are adjacent because they also count as being 2 squares away.

BUT, you can attack B with melee reach 3

It looks to me he has it setup so that B is adjacent to A which would make it two squares away since it would be the diagonal adjacent.

It's unfortunate that the forum software here does not allow for use of a fixed-width font. :(

In the situation I presented above, yes, B is intended to be diagonally adjacent to A.
