I have a question about a SA.

Zenoc Quah gives allies Jedi Hatred+10. The SA says ignore this ability if ally counts as having the same name as another ally.

My questions is; Does this count towards multiple allies, for example YV Firebreather x2 or does it mean Nom Anor, Executor "counts as" Nom Anor,

More examples would be Warmaster Tsavong Lah, "counts as" Tsavong Lah and Domain Shai Warrior "counts as" a character named YV warrior??

Thanks for your help

I believe that refers to non-Unique characters that count as other non-Unique characters. MANY Yuuzhan Vong pieces count as being named 'Yuuzhan Vong Warriors.' For instance, the Domain Lah Warrior has the SA 'Yuuzhan Vong Warrior' which states: (Counts as a character named Yuuzhan Vong Warrior). So, if you have a regular Yuuzhan Vong Warrior and a Domain Lah Warrior in the same squad, then Specialization does not come into effect. However, if you have 10 Domain Lah Warriors, or 13 Yuuzhan Vong Warriors, or 10 Yuuzhan Vong High-Bred Warriors, then they get Jedi Hatred.

I just want to make sure, because that can really affect how you build a Vong squad. The ability doesn't say Unique or non Unique

You can't have any characters with the same name or who count as having the same name. Otherwise specialization is cancelled.

Wow. Sooooo... essentially, Specialization means that you pick as many YV pieces as you can, while avoiding the ever-present 'Yuuzhan Vong Warrior' ability.

I'm confused too. Multiple characters "count as" being the same name as another ally? I understand the YV Warrior SA and that on the card Nom Anor, Executor "Counts As" Nom Anor but 2 YV Firebreathers don't "count as" anyone else, they just are??

I interpret it as no multiple characters either. Tsavong Lah W/E is out as well as Nom Anor, Executor. The Darkside clouds everything. Confused

It has nothing to do with the typical Unique persona definition that controls when you can only have 1 of a specific character in your squad. If any 2 characters have the same name, that negates Specialization.

2 Firebreathers are more than 1 character with the same name.

An Old Republic Soldier and Aric Jorgan who has Soldier (Counts as a character named Old Republic Soldier) are more than 1 character with the same name (OR Soldier ... though Jorgan also counts as named Aric Jorgan when it matters for something else)

In very limited cases, Unique can include a definition that not only defines the persona for Unique purposes, but adds an alternate name that the piece counts as, for purposes of effects. An example of this is General Rahm Kota who has Unique (Counts as a character named Master Kota). Kota is Kota as far as Unique goes, his 'rank' doesn't affect that, but since he also counts as named Master Kota, the Kota's Militia pieces can benefit from the Rapport on their card when in a squad with General Rahm Kota.

Tsavong Lah, Warrior Elite does not count as a character named Yuuzhan Vong Warrior for effects that benefit that specific named character, but he IS a Yuuzhan Vong warrior for purposes of effects that benefit any warrior class character of the Yuuzhan Vong faction.

This ability is also on the new NR Lando that came out in set 10. The boost and who it helps is different, but the requirement of no allies having the same name will always be what controls whether Specialization takes effect.

Hope that helps.
