Sorry for the misleading headline...Anywho; With the new trilogy being released, and the fact that the old (but still the one "true") canon is obsolete, would the designers or Vset team ever consider a new Faction of "The First Order"? Just a thought. Yours?

I think you could probably just get away with meshing them with the Imperials/NR, but I guess we will have to see when the movie comes out. Should be an interesting set next year though haha

hmmm... maybe it is a misunderstanding of a turn of phrase 'the one "true" cannon' is obsolete? says who? fairytales a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away are 'obsolete'? that's news to me (Roland Barthes "The Author Is Dead", Rene Magritte "ceci n'est une pipe"... I could go on). just as there are an infinitude of variations and 'readings' "No True Scotspeople" in other 'traditions' with 'apocrypha'... so too are there multiple 'cannon' and continuity - Star Wars is whatever we want it to be at this point trekwarstrek? or the Marvel Comics 'wars? a bunch of EU stuff from the NJO era? returning to making a "First Order" faction You could make it, Caedus; it'd be excellent to see some awesome custom minis inspired by that stuff. it could be a VSET thing; folks'd make some interesting minis hopefully to accompany the statcards

shoot, I meant to vote no, it's just too much at this point in the game. It would fairway too much effort to even get them to compete

I really just wanted to see what other people thought. I figured it would just run in with imperials as well, but whatever. I would kind of like the idea of a new faction. I do understand that the costs involved would pose a problem. Among other things

I don't see the big deal about needing to create a "New" faction; they're the Imperials. Just create a new ability.
New Order (A character with this special ability may not be in a squad with characters named Palpatine or Vader, regardless of faction.

I agree that it would be simpler just to give a special ability that limited who they could be with. As it would be, you'd be completely creating the faction out of V-sets, therefore basically requiring the next V-set to be completely of this new faction to be able to give it some steam. It might be interesting to think about for the future, but I think at this point, it would be simpler to mix them with the Imperials.

I feel like making a new faction at this point in the game's development is a little late. One thing that I have found to be interesting is the creation of sub-factions which has been done before i.e. Zann Consortium and SpecForce kind of along the lines of what surf_rider56 stated with the First Order. That I could see as feasible especially since (as far as we know) its is still a remnant of the Empire. Now this Knights of Ren that Kylo Ren is supposedly apart of would probable be Fringe similar to the Jensaarai Order. I just don't think an entirely new faction would be feasible or a good idea since bringing it up to speed with the rest of the factions would require almost an entire V-Set possible a little of a second to accommodate it. Seems like a rather inefficient use of a V-Set.
