I would thoroughly recommend Surf-Rider56;
he comes up with awesome images, which can readily be turned into a 'sketch-like' image, via GIMP etc.

A lot of the Wars artists have gone quiet in the last 7-8months,
as there was a lot of content culled online around the place.
DevArt (deviant art) still has a few sci-fi fans, and can be a great place to get source imagery under CCA 3.0

good hunting, and I'm keen to see what it is you come up with
(doubly so if it has to do with "staggered activation" and the jumbo stat-card)
