Howdy!
Well, after the beta to the new Battlefront has come to an end...
and having preordered the deluxe of the new battlefront...
I'm proud to say - I still got it , baby!

I went 60 kills and 0 deaths, online! Shoulda screenshot'd,
no spawn kills or tool kills or nade kills. Pure blasting of Rebel Scum.
that was AWESOME. (and, they were tough I've gotta say).

Another match, managed to kill Vader with an A-Wing.
(flying through the legs of an ATAT was also fun!)

Another match, stayed airborne in a tie fighter on the hoth map for 8 mins 45seconds,
and downed 7 enemies...

It was a great game, and I'm looking forward to the full game.

I disliked: not being able to go prone,
not being able to dodgeroll on foot,
the 'TCG' elements and 'pay to play' elements...
and, that we can't port our saved status from PS2/PC Battlefront across...

that concrit aside,
the visuals on the PS4 are AMAZING,
and the maps are challenging.
Being able to zoom around in 1st person in the starfighter is awesome too.

Have you played much of the new battlefront?
any exploits you'd care to share?

awesome job man! I am looking forward to the game when it comes to pc. Do you know if they are planning on having seps and clones like the other 2 battlefronts did?

hehehe, the game is just looking so neat,
I'm looking forward to it.
PC will also be a great platform, if the mods for JK:JKA and Battlefront 2 are anything to go by.
I'm hoping it will be a lot like the DUST/EVE crossover or similar,
so as to have procedurally iterative and universe-scale sandbox, with especially the
planetsurface to space ability (i don't mind if there's a 'loading' bar between systems, but I want that transition from space to the ground to be smooth and real-time sandbox).

that was some of the fun stuff to beta playing on Star Citizen;
being able to 'ambush' sluggish freighters as they were coming in to land,
or infiltrating a facility, exfiltrating with the blueprints and being able to call a landing craft direct to the front door and
'punch it' at a 90deg angle straight up... that was fun hehehe
(and come on, it's in the Wing Commander Universe too, with Kilrathi confirmed to be in Sqd. 52)

I digress;
as to clone-wars era content... I had heard it may be dlc for the game,
so I am hoping there will be clone wars era content alongside the OT stuff (which is fun too) or the JJVerse stuff.
however, I had also heard conjecture such DLC would require a seasonpass to be buyable,
and it might be something I'd wait for the game of the year edition to acquire in that event hehehe

have you had a chance to enjoy the new SW:Battlefront beta?
what did you think of the card and 'pay to play' concept system for loadouts?
were you frustrated by the lack of weapons customisation or character customisation relative to other games, like MGS V?
or, is simplicity a hallmark not only of SWMinis, but also the SW:Battlefront system?

i haven't played the new battlefront yet, so don't have any input on it sorry to say. I played Battlefront 1 and 2 a lot (loved the first Battlefront a ton!!!!!!!!!! Battlefront 2 was fun also, but not as great as the first, imo). This new Battlefront game has defnetely been on my radar. I am disappointed that they won't have Seps and clones in the caore game....getting them via dlc to me seems like a very greedy move to me when the other 2 games already had all 4 factions built in. Hopefully it doesn't cost to much. I am looking forward to the better starship combat system. the first 2 battlefront games were lackluster in that department.

@ jak
indeed. It's an addictive thing - maybe because of all the people you meet as well,
while playing? maybe it's the co-op aspect or the flashing lights?
although, on this new Battlefront, the vistas are just so much more awesome,
and if capitalships are maneuverable for space battles... that's the icing on the cake hehehe.

pay to play has always dismayed me...
I mean, if pay-to-play was a thing, why make the base game cost 5 - 10 times a movie ticket?
if you want me to pay for all the DLC to ongoing support all the awesome people that put code into a procedural game etc,
why not lower the cost of the base game, and make everything cumulative hehehe

@Mando
Yup, I would have to heartily agree it is disappointing the Clone Wars era will maybe be DLC;
having some eyecandy from that era (or even TOR/KOTOR era in a battlefront format?)
it would ameliorate the JJTrekWars facets BigGrin
(enough about that though - we're getting a Princess Leia and the Khyber Crystal movie, Han Solo, Yoda, Jango Fett/Boba Fett movies, so those're cool, even if VII looks lackluster plotwise)

zooming around in first person in the starfighters,
it was evocative of Xwing, Jedi Starfighter or Rogue Squadron,
but more awesome, because all the cockpit displays moved and the damage looked nice,
the icing on the cake being high-res backgrounds

@all
apologies for a hype topic -
i seldom get hyped for many things,
but this one is something preordered that,
it looks to be living up to the hype and the legacy;
its a battlefront game, it's on a playstation...

(don't get me started with the game console not reading my previous games from previous consoles the company made;
i mean, not even a discount for proof of purchase on old games "we already bought" or a mail-away memory conversion system?
talk about no loyalty reward program for playstation gamers eh?)

It's been a while, and SWBattlefront by Dice is...
it's fun. Though, it's a little lackluster truth be told.

Why? the internet connection/servers don't match to your geographic area, so if you don't have fibre to the node/to the home,
there's throttling to consider... this leads to INFURIATING crashes...
autodeath for 30mins? whoop... eee...
further,
the starfighter element is not available offline - there is only 1 training level,
and it is most definitely Pay-to-Play.
the game, sans internet, is very barely lawful to be fit-for-purpose, as you cannot actually do what is depicted in the advertising without online connectivity. (see the "if you don't have fibre to the home, you're in for it" complaint)

those gripes aside - and they spoil an otherwise awesome game,
playing on the space maps/starfighter dogfighting is AWESOME.
I only wish it was less like Rogue-Squadron-minus, - seriously,
the starfighter series of games, XWing vs Tie or Rogue-Squadron are even better than this one at the moment...
If only this was more like XWing or Xwing v Tie,
because being only able to choose 2 kinds of fighter,
and not fly around in space (or bespin at this point either), it is annoying.
being able to repair on the fly, or have more co-pilots on a T-Wing or a B-Wing or Y-Wing,
and see the Tie Phantom, Tie Advance and the Tie Defender... that'd be awesome.

I know we can't have everything, and this battlefront is more suited to the nutrekwars crowd,
(come on - 55 character model customisations, 38 custom 'emoticons', but only 2 kinds of starfighter, and 3 maps?!? what the fudge?!?)
I just feel its a lot of loss of functionality relative to Battlefront 2,
and people have to pay MORE for the privilege... i don't get that...

over to you;
is it purely sour grapes on my part,
or are other folks also having a few thoughts after playing SWBattlefront?

I am disappointed that the game has $50 worth of DLC in addition to the $60 game price. That is a kind of a deal breaker to me. I won't stand for and support this recent trend where developers sell incomplete games. Battle Front 1 and 2 had way more and for less cost. Sure the graphics weren't as spectacular, but at least you had a lot of fun maps and you had unique classes and also 4...not 2...factions to play as.

Thanks Mando... it has been a talking point locally since release...
people who don't normally 'do math', are counting the number of starfighters and maps, and wondering where the others are...
is it fun (when it works)? - sure,
does the game look visually pleasing?, yup.
so, this leaves the game feeling like "18 games in 1",
a sampler of many other games that could be made...

hopefully free-to-player DLC corrects some of these things,
if not... there's all the more incentive to support all those awesome procedural iterative ground-to-space galaxy scale games in the pipeline hehehe BigGrin
