A game for people not going to FrostyCon. Predict what you think will be played at FrostyCon (without mentioning any secrets you've heard from players who are going).
I think there are these 9 players, maybe I missed some: Jason Tim Trevor Jim Bryan Ettienne jak Joe Caedus

I think:
ObiKin are a little overrated. They're good, and will discourage shooters, but I don't think they're good enough to win big tournaments. Large base is tricky, and if there's lots of melee around it's tough for them.
I like Vader and Palpatine a lot, but people will be expecting them.
If I was going, I'd try and play a balanced squad with a tank counter. Something like Rebels with Hera and/or Luke Hero of Endor, Fringe with Morrigan, or Old Republic with Vima Sunrider.
I hope someone tries the new Sith stuff like Cognus and Warb Null - it's really fun.
I think swarms like Blast Bugs and Daala are really good, but people probably won't play them since they're old.

So my predictions...
2 Imperial squads. Vader + Palps and a surprise Daala squad. I think Vader + Palps is the gatekeeper for this tournament. Strong enough and new enough that you can expect someone to bring it. And strong enough to be an autoloss if you don't at least think about it. As the gatekeeper, it might end up doing really badly... even though I think it's strong, I expect the whole rest of the meta will react against squads like that.
2 Vong squads. One Domain Lah Warrior focused. One Tsavong/Khalee focused.
2 Sith squads. New stuff. 2 Amanoas. 1 Warb. 1 Cognus. 1 Caedus. 1 Revan. In some combination of some sort.
1 Republic. No ObiKin (everyone predicts melee). Cin+Serra in the Republic squad.
1 NR. Galactic Alliance w/ new Jacen.
1 Fringe. Talon + Morrigan + Boba.

Blast Bugs haven't ever been really pushed that hard. I think they're tier 1. This might be the perfect tournament for them. The "mood" is melee beats. Paper beats rock. And it's Force-immune paper. Will Kybuck show up? Or a Separatist strafer? Gold Squadron Aces would work well against them. Maybe a Rolling Attacks piece, but maybe not. They might stay spread out enough that Rolling Attacks doesn't trigger. With none of those around, what is going to stop Blast Bugs? I guess Cloaked or SS could have a chance. Beefy Disruptive would work pretty well. Or out swarm them with Daala or ewoks. But it will basically auto win against Vader+Palps as well as a lot of the other squads that were discussed on SHNN tonight.

I think Null and Amonoa will make a splash and will wipe most forms of vong and swarms. i love Null.
Which palps are you guys talking about? Order 66 palps? I used that with some elite commandos and it was really tough.
If anticipating melee heavy, perhaps Tarpels and flamethowers would be a shot in the dark.
How come nowbody uses super qui gon? Rival too hard to build around???

You heard it here first! I seem to recall a similar prediction before the Indiana Regional last year.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't consider building a tournament squad around him. I'd rather build around Mace, GOWK, or Cin Drallig in that price range for Republic. Do people ever build Republic squads that are 60-80 points of Jedi (eg Cin Drallig plus someone like Aayla, Quinlan, or Serra Keto), the four Elite Republic Commandos from Shadows, and some tech? Seems like it would work pretty well in a lower activation, more balanced meta.

You don't have to go with the 10hp Praetorite Vong Scouts, or build an entire squad around Blastbug either. You can use 40 hit point Domain Lah Warriors with Crab Armor 11, and chuck in a Subcommander with Quorreal against tanks. The pieces involved are cheap enough that you have plenty of options - you have room for support shooters, and for reinforcement counter pieces.

I just found out that I will be house hunting tomorrow, so I will not be attending FrostyCon. :( I was really hoping to meet some of you guys and surprise all of you with a Mando squad. :( :( :(
