In our lil custom's contest, we've had the question of should a player be able to give a SA or FP to another if they don't have this themselves, rationale being "I want to give that ability to that character."

Never used the Cam ability much myself but it seems silly to be able to give someone something you don't have yourself.

Ruling please gentlemen?

Cheers,

Surf

This isn't an official ruling, but I've read that one reason that a piece normally gives out something it already has is so that it's defined clearly on the card. I think it's more of a convention than an official rule.

Has there Ever been an instance where a character didn't have the power they were "sharing?" I've done some searching, but I'd be the first to admit I haven't looked at every character with the Cam ability.

Besides, how can you share something you don't have yourself?

There's a thread here about the v-set Cade giving out Twin: http://www.bloomilk.com/forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=14414

Interesting Discussion.

I don't have a problem with CE's giving out what they don't have; obviously plenty of that has gone out as far back as the practical beginning. I'm just questioning Camaraderie doing it. I would think the idea of "camaraderie" is a friend sharing something; back to my point of sharing something you don't have.

V-set Cade (http://www.bloomilk.com/Character/1523/cade-skywalker--legacy-of-the-force) gives out Twin via Camaraderie, but doesn't have it himself - that's what that whole thread is about.

Ahh, I never used/looked at Cade; my mistake. Still, while I can see the point at deliberately making certain "friends" better, I personally will stick to my position. Still, if the V-Setters think on occasion its ok, who am I to argue.

Since it was my custom that sparked this, I thought I'd give the reasons for what I did. Errataing all the old unplayed WotC pieces would be a pain, likely not help that much, and no ones original cards would work anymore. It would be a nightmare. It's much easier to make a character that improves that specific character so you just run them together. I wasn't just giving Ahsoka random abilities, I was trying to give her useful, thematic abilities that she could have had in the first place, and have her gain them gameplay-wise from someone who she would be teamed with thematically. I didn't want two characters with the same abilitiies, I wanted Plo Koon and Ahsoka Tano.

TL:DR I see camaraderie like an errata-lite simply to make an old character what they should be, not a copy of whoever gives it to them.

The Camaraderie character is supposed to have at least one ability that it is handing out. That being said, customs can do whatever you want. :)

Rapport is perhaps the easiest way to do things, though. Any character can be competitive with a low enough cost.
