I use Marn to take my opponent's Supreme Overlord Quorreal Reinforcement piece... It still has Aggressive Negotiations after I've taken it?

I would say yes. Bribery says that you can take 10 points from your opponents characters that have been brought in through reinforcements. SOQ says that characters brought in through reinforcements gain AN. I would deduce that since they have been brought in through reinforcements, that they keep AN after they are stolen. Probably wrong though, I usually am.

Well, obviously, Marn is too powerful. BAN MARN. (agree, they would have A.N.)Cursing

Question was asked at the Indiana Regional and that is how it was ruled.
Just wanted to post it for confirmation and future reference.
As I'm sure many other like myself use advanced search to find old rulings on Bloo.

A ban would be an extreme measure considering Marn has been around a while.
An errata wouldn't be out of line considering Marn is being used more frequently to do things the designers never intended.

Small attempt at humor. Marn just messes with the Vong too much. (in my opinion)

So here is a new twist. Can we get a ruling on this.

Bribery (During setup, after seeing your opponent’s squad, you may add up to 10 points of Fringe characters to your squad. After setup, you may choose to select up to 10 points of your opponent's characters brought in through reinforcements instead of your original selection. These characters join your squad for the rest of the skirmish, and set up in your starting area. Living characters brought in through this ability gain Con Artist.)

Does this mean brought in through Bribery itself or through Stealing reinforcements?

yes, I will agree that Marn destroys a Force Battery like Sidious SM, as I found out the hard way at the Indiana regional last weekend. Hadnt even crossed my mind that they could use Sids FP since Marn and most of the usual reinforcements brought in with him dont have the force on their own, but Con Artist does say regardless of restrictions. Just unfortunate that I found out mid-tournament as it prob. would have affected my squad choice and prob. had a significant impact on at least a couple of my games.

I did as well, but I beat Laura's Squad (by an Uggy and mostly due to some bad rolls) and I had the Disciple that kept her from being ultra aggressive. I may have had a better chance with a semi charged Sid

Only living characters brought in through Bribery gain Con Artist.
Reinforcement characters taken from an opponent do not gain Con Artist.
Bribery says "your opponent's characters brought in through Reinforcements instead of your original selection."

Why is this a new twist? I didn't hear of anyone giving taken reinforcements Con Artist.

Because I guess I read it wrong. It looks (IMO) like to me the first sentence is stand alone from the rest. you can bring in your own reins, but if you steal reins from another they get Con Artist. which would make sense, because they would be subject to whatever CE since they were originally in the former squad.

It would seem to me that the only way they Should get Con Artist is if they were taken from the opponent squad. Since they would have been subject to the original CE in the first place.

Sorry if I'm wrong and creating confusion

You're right, that makes WAY more sense... I believe that was the designers intent but the rules guys forgot to clean up the wording.

We should stop referring to Bribery pieces as reinforcements. Marn brings in BRIBERY pieces or he takes enemy Reinforcements.

The glossary clarifies this. Characters you bring in yourself via Bribery get Con Artist. If instead you take your opponent's reinforcements, those pieces would also get Con Artist.

ETA: This is actually a Bribery issue, not a Con Artist issue. Other characters that have Bribery give out other bonuses.

After setup when a character joins your squad (for instance through Betrayal) it is being "brought" into your squad?

So characters taken from your opponent's reinforcements are "brought" twice by both Reinforcements and by Bribery?

Then they gain any benefits from being brought in by both enemy Reinforcements and by your Bribery.

All the Glossary says is that characters brought in to your squad through Bribery gain Con Artist.

Glossary Text

During setup, after seeing your opponent’s squad, you can add up to 10 points of the listed characters to your squad. After setup, you may choose to select up to 10 points of your opponent’s characters brought in through Reinforcements instead of the characters you originally chose: These replacement characters join your squad for the rest of the skirmish and are set up in your starting area.

After the character choice is completed and characters have been placed on the map, characters brought in to your squad through Bribery gain other benefits (if any) as stated in the card’s ability description, and effects (such as Con Artist) that would normally be resolved during setup are immediately resolved. Characters brought in through Bribery don’t count toward the cost of a squad, and players don’t have to defeat them to win the skirmish. If you are scoring points for defeats, or in a tiebreaker, defeating the extra characters doesn’t score points.

Can Con Artist take Sid's "You decide who goes first each round regardless of initiative check, unless you roll a 1",as well?

I dont think so as he would still be the one to decide who goes first not marn, so it would be pretty pointless to steal.

+1 on this being a Bribery issue. Con Artist is not the problem. Bribery should only be allowed to steal reinforcements (and I'd be good with stealing 20pts of rein) because you are bribing them and then they would and should gain Con Artist. Doesnt make sense to "bribe" what, is in a sense, your reinforcements and then have them gain Con Artist. But hey, what do I know?

I would also agree. Con Artist makes you subject to commander effects (I would assume as a follower or ally would be) not the commander itself.

Con Artist doesn't actually let you "take" the CE it just lets you be eligible for it. So CEs that don't grant an ability or actually do something can't really be effectively used by Con Artist (stuff like Ozzel, Sids go first CE, and there are plentyo f others)

NOw if you used a Yammosk and actually copied sids CE, then you would be rolling for init like normal as your CEs would cancel each other out like opposing Thrawns do.
