indeed HarryG,
it is one of a few projects about SWMs which look awesome.
Tabletop sim! cool. it could be modded, and if it had AGI/AI also,
could be a great training tool for the pro's at tournament level (the 1-Dan level players eheheh).
suggest it on Moddb...
another I cannot recommend more, is SWMplay's flash applet version
all SWMplay needs is a little more support to include all minis to the present VSet.
it is mostly stable, and is a top-down sim at this time,
though in future may be a 3D-Iso game.
SWMplay envisons a free-to-play game, with mmo options for a tournament season ultimately.
something like that, but with Xen involved too, would be awesome
hearing the SFX for attacks, maybe some 'attack animations' ala DUST or RISK,
or in Hand of Fate etc... that'd be awesome!
there was a french projet too, which was in Unity,
which would have 3D mini figs, which you could then print-out also
(you get the mesh as a read-only copy to 3D print if you wanted too)
that was a cool idea also. you could also save quick-ir tags to card backs,
and 3D scan your own figures to enter into a database,
that way you can use your statcard as a quick IR 'memory card' etc.
another couple are Hand of Fate and that PS4 card game which used the camera also...
so that the figures become a 3D overlay based on the mini or card.
Vassal is fun, but fiddly to many when first starting it up and setting it all up
i don't find it too fiddly personally, yet many locals who've tried throw their hands up and give that up.
personally - as much fun as VR figures are,
for me, seeing the custom figures people physically make -
their ability and fine motor skills in making a well-completed custom etc,
there is nothing which can approach the awesome in that.
there are so many people who are very good at making customs,
and it feels that playing the game can retain those skills.
we even have pepakura/papercraft proxies,
so folks can use 2D or 3D pepakura to use to get started in miniatures.
some russian SWMinis players have 0 figures;
their entire collection is papercraft
apologies for the novel of a response, HarryG,
it is a subject which I hope gets more consideration,
and could be a great way to reimbue extra interest
into this awesome game!
a lot of people are passionate about it,
so it'll happen sooner or later.
okay, you got me -
I'd want to see tile wars and dynamic duos in a 3D/VR game environment,
it'd be so much fun
