Really enjoy reading about this!
My two cents on the Nihilus deal: FlyingArrow's suggestion seems like a pretty good one as it gives lower-cost characters a slight advantage, helping to make up for usually being outmatched.
I also thought, maybe allow HP to go below 0, and the person with "more" HP at the end of the round wins? I.e. Kavar has 10 left, Nihilus has 40. Both of Kavar's attacks hit, and Nihilus is at 0 (and defeated). Force Detonate takes Kavar down to either -20 or -40, so Nihilus still wins. It's a lot sloppier, but adds to the feel of a Force-attuned boxing match.

Righto, time for Round 2.
So, a question was partially asked about how the bracketing works. We set up a knockout tree with 64 places in it and simply drew pieces from a hat in order. Group 1, after starting with 8 pieces in 4 matchups, will eventually end in one piece that will be their quarterfinalist. The eight groups will then each produce a quarterfinalist in the same way. Group 1's QF'er will then face Group 2's, 3 v 4, 5 v 6... you gets it. Then Semis with the 1/2 vs the 3/4, and the 5/6 vs the 7/8, then the final. Hopefully that makes some sense... easy to draw, much harder to type. Anyhoo.
Group 1: Obi-Kin (Kade) beats VAR (Jamie) Corran, Jedi Bad-Ass (Hone) beats Shimrra
Group 2: 100pt Luke (me) beats The Inquisitor (Brody) Exar (me) beats Luke HOE (Brody)
Let's take a breath... Obi-Kin was an easy winner in his Round 2 match, no surprises there. Corran eased past Shimmra which is awesome for Hone because, although he's not the beat-iest stick in the game, he is Hone's "I can't live without" piece.. not that I enjoyed losing. Speaking of me, as I often do, I managed to have two wins against Brody - no small feat - and Luke was my star. Exar was pushed all the way by the other Luke (HOE - and, as a reminder, we enforced Unique rules within faction, but not across factions), but won it in the end.
Group 3: Tsalok (Jacob) beats Felcor (Jacob) 83pt Palps (Brody) beats 72pt Vader (Brody)
Group 4: 56pt Qui-Gon (Hone) beats Belth (Brody) Caedus (Kade) beats Nas Choka (me)
Whenever we had a matchup where both players owned the piece, the owner chose one to play, and we collectively managed the other. This was the case in both the Group 3 matchups. Tsalok rolled the Felcor - who, to be honest, was only there to look imposing (making its first round matchup with Yoda literally a sight to behold) - and Palps, much to the his fans disapproval, squeaked past Vader. He was pushed all the way and only just managed to pull it off! Qui-Gon, a spicy meatball, accounted for Belth with some ease. Caedus, we thought, was supposed to flatten Choka, but it went to the wire, Caedus taking a punishing (I'm surprised he could walk after that) until his ultra high defence saved his bacon. He existed on 10hp for like ever, before he finally did enough to knock out the brawler, Nas Choka. Talk about going camping... in tents. (See what I did there?)
That, however, signalled the end for the OR. Was it bad matchups that knocked them out so early? Or do they just not possess any good beatsticks of their own? Something to ponder!

The second half o' the draw...
Group 5: Saesee JM (Jamie) beats Maulee DWO (Jamie) Mace (Hone) beats Roan Fel (Jacob)
Group 6: 100pt Revan (Jamie) beats Drallig (me) 114pt Krayt (Hone) beats 69pt Sidious (Kade)
For fans of the WotC pieces, Saesee Tiin did y'all proud as he fought like a boss to edge out Maulee at the very last second. Mace got almost worked up a sweat against a persistent Roan Fel. The 43pt piece, awesome in his own right, was easily outclassed by the 65pt monster, and his only hope was a successful Cortosis roll that wouldn't be absorbed. Hmmm. Drallig then couldn't contain the massive Revan, and Krayt eased passed Sidious. We're rolling.
Group 7: 100pt Yoda (Brody) beats 50pt Kota (Kade) Malgus (Brody) beats Kyp (Brody)
Group 8: Nihilus (Jamie) beats Desann (Hone) Greivous (me) beats 57pt Maulee (Brody)
Yoda is super scary. Kota didn't even get out of the blocks. Yoda wins init and that's it. (Oh, as a side note, we were ignoring Reinforcements/Reserves.) Malgus then brushed past Kyp, but we were still freaked out by Yoda. We managed to start settling down in time to see Nihilus beat Desann, although we almost got into the same who-wins-if-Nihilus-detonates? problem, but Nihilus won it. The final matchup of the second round was Greivous knocking out fellow Sep Maul. It turned out a bit of a Teras Kasi vs Parry battle, but when Greivous is rolling hot, its hard to break through! Anyhoo, it was dang close and Greivous only just made it!

Another round done. We said goodbye to another 16 leaving just 16 more in our 3rd Round (which I'll write up soon). Here's how its looking for the third.
OR: gone! Sith 5 left Republic: 5 left Seps: 1 left Rebels: gone! Imperials: 1 left NR: 2 left Fringe: 1 left Vong: 1 left
Remembering that the Mandos started with no one, and everyone else mostly started with 7... OR and the Rebs are gone after two rounds! Rebels is understandable - their power isn't really in its ability to wave a stick - but OR?! That was frightening! Everyone else has dropped down to 1 player left in the 3rd, with three exceptions: NR has two and the powerful Sith/Republic axis with 5 each.
Our players who are battling are still clinging on too:
Hone: 4 left Jacob: 1 left Kade: 2 left Brody: 3 left Jamie: 3 left Me: 3 left
Brody took the biggest hit this round, starting it with 9 and now only having 3 left. Ouch. Hone, Jamie and myself only lost a little, still having 3 or 4 left in the game, but Jacob - with 1 left - is almost gone. His sole entrant of Tsalok has to knock over Palps for him to stay in the game!
Round 3 - the final 8 matchups to decide the quarterfinalists for each group - are next!

Round 3!
This round sees each of the groups produce their champion. That champion will move into the Quarterfinals and to reach the final 8 is no mean feat! Without further ado...
Group 1: Obi-Kin (Kade) beats Corran, Jedi Bad-Ass (Hone)
Group 2: 100pt Luke (me) beats Exar (me)
Group 3: 83pt Palps (Brody) beats Tsalok (Jacob)
Group 4: 56pt Qui-Gon (Hone) beats Caedus (Kade)
Group 5: Mace (Hone) beats Saesee JM (Jamie)
Group 6: 100pt Revan (Jamie) beats 114pt Krayt (Hone)
Group 7: 100pt Yoda (Brody) beats Malgus (Brody)
Group 8: Greivous (me) beats Nihilus (Jamie)
Eight matchups, eight winners. Obi-Kin beat Corran fairly easily, but Corran did himself proud. Luke then won, as expected, but only just, not expected! Exar was a monster offensively and Luke missed a coupl'a rolls, resulting in a closer result than it should've been. Kudos Exar! Palps then breezed past Tsalok that had been causing some issues for other matchups, before the closely fought Qui-Gon win against Caedus. This was a case of rolls just going the right way and Hone making some good tactical choices. In the end, it was far closer than anyone remotely predicted, and I'm not sure if anyone saw it going that way!
The second half of the draw finished the same way the first half ended - a close matchup that no one saw being so close. Mace ended squeaking past Saesee, but not before the WotC hope - the only WotC piece in the final 16! - ran him close. Revan was then too good for Krayt, Yoda barely raised a sweat against Malgus, and we finished with Grievous outlasting Nihilus without too much bother.
Who's left: OR: gone! Sith gone! Republic: 4 left Seps: 1 left Rebels: gone! Imperials: 1 left NR: 1 left Fringe: 1 left Vong: gone!
Sith are gone! They lost 5 characters! Republic only lost the one (in a Republic-Republic matchup too), and we said goodbye to the Vong. And the players:
Hone: 2 left Jacob: gone! Kade: 1 left Brody: 2 left Jamie: 1 left Me: 2 left
We farewelled Jacob and we all got a bit thinner. Bring on the Quarterfinals!

Okay. This next lot we'll get through fairly quickly, I'm sure. Have you picked your winner already? By now, with 8 left, you can probably see some fairly predictable matchups... but will the dice (and the players rolling them) go the way they should?!
Quarter #1: 100pt Luke (me) beats Obi-Kin (Kade)
Quarter #2: 83pt Palps (Brody) beats 56pt Qui-Gon (Hone)
Quarter #3: Mace (Hone) beats 100pt Revan (Jamie)
Quarter #4: 100pt Yoda (Brody) beats Grievous (me)
Holy + moly. It turned out to be the only super close matchup of the Semis, but Luke *squeaked* past Obi-Kin and, in my own opinion, should have lost. Who knows what might have happened, but Kade completely forgot at crucial times that YOU CAN SPEND FORCE POINTS TO REROLL! How much it affected the result is anybody's guess, but it was a pretty big forgetting.
The rest of the matchups seemed fairly trivial after that. Palps had no real problems with Qui-Gon who put up a fight, but ultimately wasn't enough. Mace struggled a bit more with Revan, but managed to get through. Yoda wasn't even bothered with Grievous... it was not pretty.
Republic have two left, and one each for the Imperials and the NR. Hone still has one in play, Brody two and I have my lucky Luke!
See you in the Semis!

It's Semis time!
Semi #1: Luke (me!) beats Palps (Brody)
Semi #2: Yoda (Brody) beats Mace (Hone)
Luke, after his Quarterfinal reprieve, gets past Palps without much trouble. Mace was hoping to roll hot, but Yoda went all out and squashed his finals hopes all flat.
NR vs Republic, kez vs Brody... bring on the Final:
The Great Beatstick Knockout Tournament of Awesome FINAL: ...and it's Yoda! Luke probably put up a better fight than anyone else probably could, but it was pretty brutal. If Luke had started, it may have been a different story, but Yoda went first and leapt in hitting Luke six times, but ultimately killing him on the fifth, cancelling his defence attempts, and taking out the whole shebang.
And that is it!
It was so much fun to play, it completely derailed all of our other projects - like the SWM:CE campaign we're in the middle of - so now it's back to business as usual. Did you agree with the result? Who would you have chosen on your team? Would you have preferred a different Palps, Yoda, Mace or Luke? What would you differently?
Mauri ora, mauri mate! May the Force be with you!
