Yeah, I've seen those trailers
Rogue One looks more intriguing than SWepVII.
so much is built around the McQuarrie and Chiang or Church concept visuals...
I will go watch it.
its set in that Clone Wars/rise of the empire era.
fem-Kyle Katarn and fem-Jan Ors will be interesting to watch as they
steal the plans of the death star?
seeing the imperial senate and how the junta/stratocracy functions will be interesting.
and, just how organized is the Rebel Alliance?
do they have factional infighting, and will the imperials exploit that?
perhaps with a double-triple agent?
as to other reflections,

I don't know necessarily that
Disney means more and 'better' 'star wars'...
nor, if Lucasfilm and Lucas couldn't have made many more projects if they chose to.
I also don't know what Disney 'saved star wars' from...
it was certainly not financial futures.
its a fine line between,
making just right quantity and quality,
and oversupply of low quality and trying too hard to catch lightning in that bottle again.
ewoks, jar jar foibles or, darth smeagol, chump-seppuku and 'its another deathsphere 3,0'... they're as bad as each other hehe
G Lucas had a lot to say on that around december '15,
it was a touching interview.
he was successful for a reason, and if authorial intent matters,
it's his concept at the core.
if it doesn't matter about authorial intent (R Barthes etc), then there's any canon we want.
he told some great stories,
and awesome people collaborated to make them even more awesome.
there's also those documentaries (like a history book in video form, who likes reading anyhow?)
about how Lucas founded ILM and kickstarted a wave of innovation in movie making techniques,
with various other sci-fi shows and concepts subcontracting those companies
to you know, make the special effects have more
verisimilitude and what not...
not to mention LucasArts (predecessor to EA) revolutionizing games...
which led to the videogame industry being more developed,
and regarded as a storytelling medium outright.
they musta done something right for a long time,
to then have disney turn around and buy em out/merge em.
I have to concede a bias;
lucas is alright in my book, hehehe
frankly, on things other than Wars or Trek,
'Brams is awesome too.
Disney's backstory is awesome also, Walt's ideas were cool, and
he started from the very bottom and worked from there
but the conglomerate dis-corp we see today is far removed from that.
darting back to the lucas-bashing though,
I mean, it's causality 101;
if G Lucas hadn't personally wanted to make Star Wars the success it is,
and believed in himself and his ideas enough to take the risks,
and get the right team of people around to realize that vision...
then this site would not exist.
its that clear cut - we can be as flip as we want,
and despise the hard work that made it all possible,
though the fact remains.
Lucas accomplished what so many others try to set out to do, and do not succeed in.
Ironically, it is that near-fatal car crash which G Lucas at the time and for years afterward
thought had nearly finished his driving career and life's goal,
which led to Lucas turning to creative industries.
If Gene Roddenbury hadn't almost been shot on the job while a policeman,
he may never have considered to change his lifestyle,
and take the hard tasks involved in realizing star trek...
even then, it was not entirely a success story. (Trek's always been touch and go).
Although, Roddenbury also had some close calls with death being a Capn. in the Airforce in WWII...
any one of those incidents had have cleaned up Gene... maybe, no star trek.

there's a lot of fan made stuff,
and some are making animations based on the
Lucas-Watson-Traviss canon.
it is a re-imagined clone wars period,
analogous to the 40-100years war...
which ol' ben in Ep IV alluded to ominously...
a meat grinder, instead of a very short conflict (what, 5 years?)
as depicted in the movie continuity.
theres other continuities for folks
that don't like to read, or think the apocrypha was to difficult to get into,
too 'heavy going'... that's wars for them.
NJO era, Vong era, Legacy eras, Kotor and tor eras... all apocrypha next to
the 'prime movie verse continuity'?
we're going to get a han solo movie,
a boba fett/jango fett movie... and they tie in.
hopefully a lando movie.
definitely a PG13 yoda movie.
An open-world free roam SW game, with customizable characters etc.
A telltale games star wars series.
so there's a lot of awesome stuff in the pipeline.
