No idea if a poll like this has ever been out.
Should be "Every time a set comes out, it's harder to stay in."

Should be "Every time a set comes out, it's harder to stay in." Harder to say "in" "im" (no that's not it) "ib" (not it either) "en" (closer?) "nnnnn" Man it does get harder!

jak wrote:looks like we're the ones out of date, Juicey Naw, you guys are just classics now On topic, I ALMOST said "Could use tweaking." Some of the abilities popping up to counter tempo control are really cool, but others strike me as very thematically strange. Like Forn Dodonna. I love the mechanic - looking forward to rocking some supertank Vanguards - but is she gonna just pack the heavy armor away if they aren't heavily outnumbered? And Plagueis: "Well guys, we made it through another round. Here's your next 5-hour energy." Not knocking them at all, a few of them just strike me as strange. On the other hand, I can totally picture Jango leading a charge and then telling his guys to brace for the counterattack, or Amanoa using the force incognito to keep someone occupied. Just my two credits. @Timmer: that was hilarious

Been in it and favourite game since ROTS and with the vsets it's only gotten better. (Huges almost good again, BHC, Epics!). Some players move on and other new ones start (though without the years and years of experience we have) but we will keep playing to the end of the line. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll teach my kids when they are older one day!

I think every year a set comes out it IS harder to stay in, but that's true of any collectible or expandable game. There is undeniably some effort required to keep up with it. That isn't necessarily a problem, though (or at least not more of a problem here than in every other expandable game). The question needs to be whether this game is more difficult to stay in than similar games (Magic, Heroclix, Netrunner, Hearthstone, etc.).
I voted that it's fine as is right now but I think there have been times that it has been harder than it should be to stay in. We probably should have dropped the number of pieces in each set sooner, and designers should have worked together to make more cohesive sets so that new/interesting/complex mechanics get introduced and implemented over a series of sets. The way we do it, with entirely new design teams on each set, it is exceedingly difficult and sometimes impossible to work a mechanic in over even just 2 subsequent sets. I was listening to a game design podcast earlier this week and they were interviewing Justin Gary, the creator of Ascension, and he talked about how their cycle involves 2 sets per year where the first set introduces a new mechanic and the second sets builds upon that mechanic. I think that's a great idea for both mechanics and theme and could help the game be more friendly to casual and new players.
I've gotten a bit rambly and off-topic (I've been doing that a bunch lately), but my point is that I think the game is in a good place right now and I voted as such, but I do sympathize with the people who voted that it's harder to stay in as years go by.
