Ok so this poll is gunna be open for 10 days. Ive really been trying to figure out whos better. Heres some pros and cons for the both of them.
Wicket Pros: Affects ALL within 6 squares Can do ranged damage Stealth Higher Defense Can receive commander effects
Cons: Has to be in the thick of the battle where he usually dies early Limit is 6 squares
R4, Astro Pros: Targets any character within SIGHT Can sit back out of the battle front
Cons: Cant receive commander effects In order to target someone they will be able to target you Only effects 1 character

R4, while nice, also has to follow normal targetting rules which gives your opponent much more control over whose def is lowered most of the time.

Third option: BOTH.
-8 to defense is nice.

My initial thought was the R4 and Targeting due to being able to do it at range.
But the normal targeting rules really puts the control of the use of Targeting in your opponent's hands.
Yes, Wicket will die in the middle of the battle where he's most effective, but he affects all enemies near him. Wicket FTW

My vote was for the fuball. The fact that he can get CEs help him survive a little longer, plus he has stealth to keep enemies not within 6 (or without accurate) from shooting at him.

Wicket For all the reasons others have stated. Less obvious bonus: He is unique, so if you are running anything with Impulsive... he can trigger it - and your enemies WILL want him dead

Wicket. I mean really the destroyer of worlds deserves no less than my vote. And he once tanked Boba, BH for 4 rds.

-8 to defense is nice. I ran both this last week and defeated GMLS in one turn (from 0 damage to dead).

To answer the thread, though: if I only had 8 points left over for a squad, I would take Wicket almost every time*. The fact that he can affect multiple characters and benefit from CEs clinches it, IMO. The R4 will go into a squad after Wicket, I think. * if I were playing Separatist, I'd be taking the R4 instead simply because it's a Droid.
