No Override (manual override is fine) Maybe this was stated somewhere else and I missed it, but is it the abilities that are banned or the characters? For instance, Valenthyne Farfalla loses some punch without Reinforcements, but is still a pretty solid piece otherwise - does he lose Reinforcements, or is he just banned? Same with R2-D2, Astromech Droid - some players might still be interested in 9 pt movement breaker even without Override. And Thrawn would still be useful even with his CE limited to range 6. I won't be able to be a part of this tournament, so my opinion either way doesn't matter, but I figured if I wasn't sure about something chances are there are others who need clarification too.

My inclination is the characters.
The reason being that we are trying to change no rules. If we only restrict squad building, it eliminates those elements without changing any rules.
Also - this makes people explore new characters.
(PS - Thrawn IS range 6. He's legal, just no mas amedda).
Although that brings up a good point - should init control be in the list?

Ysalamiri, IMO, isn't bad because it potentially penalizes both players.

The other route we could go is to just ban certain characters (as opposed to banning characters with x,y,z abilities).
Banning characters with certain abilities is more easily written out and casts a wider net (potentially catching some that probably aren't an issue at all).
Just simply banning certain characters probably makes it harder to catch each one you want (you have to do it individually) and makes for a longer list to write out.
Pluses and minuses both ways

Let's do this.
No sense in just talking about something - let's try it out!
Adding a couple more restrictions to catch more "competitive players" since it is on Vassal (looking at you NZ)
The thread is now up in the Events forum for this tournament!

Tim are board wide CE commanders out or just their CE? For instance, GOWK, Captain Rex, and Xizor all have board wide CE's but are still playable without.

For simplicity's sake - they are out. Rather than change the rules, we are only restricting characters with those abilities. This way a newer player could be handed a squad and simply read the cards and understand everything. This will certainly make for challenges with squad building, but I think that's a good thing for those who like to build squads. For those who don't like such challenges, we'll simply hand them a squad.

yup, doing it now before work! its challenging building a squad for this, i love it! Question: (sorry for noob questions..) Jaina has lightsaber deflect - which gives save on non-melee attacks.. I imagine that is unlike evade, in that if she gets shot from an adjacent square, she can still deflect?
