If a character is shrouded, does that prohibit that character from being hit with an adjacent melee attack.

no, shrouded would stop somebody from using abilities. Attacks are attacks not abilities.

Also, a Shrouded character can be affected by those abilities as long as they aren't the target. Like if they're adjacent to someone who gets hit with Grenades.
